I attended a lovely party that was hosted by the
Museum of Contemporary Art honoring
Streeterville and
Adrian Smith’s unique designs.

At
BLUEPRINTS (2009), an annual event held by the
Streeterville Organization of
Active Residents (SOAR), the community of
Streeterville honors and celebrates those who have contributed significantly to this area and raises funds for continued upgrading of the community.
Streeterville is located between Oak Street and Lake Shore Drive in the North and the Chicago River to the South. Streeterville takes in great pride in their neighborhood and surroundings. Being in the heart of downtown, it boasts some of Chicago’s main attractions such as, Chicago Water Tower, Navy Pier, and the John Hancock Building, and is just steps away from The Magnificent Mile on Michigan Avenue. Streeterville is truly a wonderful place for tourists and locals to visit. It is also a wonderful home to many Chicagoans.

When I entered the Museum I had my photo taken and then I was led upstairs to where the party was happening. The Museum displayed a chic and modern atmosphere that made guest feel welcome, comfortable, and excited. The demographic of attendants was all ages from 20 something’s to much older. Most guests were dressed in business attire while some were in suits and cocktail dresses.

The weather turned out to be wonderful so attendees were able to sit inside or out and mingle, eat, and view the Seneca Park.

The first and foremost feature of the evening was the fascinating world-famous architect,
Adrian Smith’s displays of his model buildings. His models were very impressive providing viewers the intricate details that made the piece a true “landmark.”
Adrian Smith said, “These buildings are to last years over time and be considered landmark pieces.”

The museum’s atmosphere was busy and tasteful. Guests were delighted with delicious deserts and gourmet appetizers by
Pucks Café and the specialized dessert bar presented by the Executive Chef of
850 North Lake Shore Drive. “The deserts were made to perfection and melt in your mouth,” said Matthew Brejnak, a guest. There were cocktails provided by
Rain Organics Vodka.

Guests were also scattered around tables checking out the items that were being auctioned which included a baseball signed by Jerry Reinsdorf, Ken Williams and Ozzie Guillen of the Chicago White Sox, sports tickets sponsored by System Parking, an autographed photo of Chicago Bull Derrick Rose, a Lake Michigan boat excursion, breakfast with 42nd Ward Alderman Brendan Reilly, dinners at over 30 downtown establishments, hotel stays, a shopping spree at Water Tower Place, and much more.

In addition, guest could view many of the exhibits the museum offered, including temporary exhibits

BLUEPRINT’s event makes it clear that
Streeterville is a unique and historical neighborhood that has a passion for making its communitiy a priority. Having the opportunity to meet Adrian Smith and peek at his work, attendees take home the satisfaction that Streeterville is a fabulous place to live or visit.
