Sultry Summer - With A Burden to Bear

Born and raised in NYC, Lael Summer experienced the highs and lows of  growing up in the heart of the city that never sleeps. Lael's maturity is beyond her years as evident in her debut album, 'Burden to Bear' with a voice that emanates a much older wisdom.

Native New Yorker

There's perhaps a reason for that, although still very young, Summer has been singing since she could walk. By the age of two she could perform every song from the Sound of Music, by ten she was studying vocal training and gave her first showcase, where she brought an entire audience to tears with her rendition of Christina Aguilera's 'Beautiful.' At only fourteen years old, she opened for Jon Anderson of legendary Yes fame at B.B. King's singing Cat Steven's 'Peace Train.' Not to shabby before you have even reached your sweet sixteen. Currently, Summer is a senior in the University of Southern California’s elite Popular Music program. In her freshman year she opened for Gary Sinise and The Lt. Dan Band with a smoldering version of Sly's 'Thank You' and Joplin's 'Piece of My Heart.'

On 'Burden to Bear' Summer dabbles in rock, R&B, soul, and even some Bossa Nova. With a cover of the Hall and Oates' tune, 'Do What You Want, Be What You Are' which was picked as the buzz track to watch out for by the Kings of A&R. "This album is especially precious to me because it is my first album; it's my baby," explains the girl with the face of an ingenue, but a voice that sounds far from it. "During the writing process I had the freedom to explore all these facets of my identity I never really acknowledged or could make sense of. I picked through my thoughts, my dreams, my nightmares, conversations, observations and memories and used the fragments of my life to piece together something I could share with others." Which Lael Summer has done, beautifully.
