Award winning composer, Rahman Altin, recently finished composing the music for the film The Butterfly’s Dream, which is the most expensive picture ever made in Turkey.
After being released, Altin’s success expanded when the soundtrack was ranked number one on Turkey’s music charts and has since then won the Public Choice Award from the World Soundtrack Academy. The film has also managed to become the official entry for “Best Foreign Film” from Turkey for the 2014 Academy Awards as well as the Golden Globes.
Being heavily exposed at an early age with art, Altin showed an interest in music at an early age due to the influence from his father, a musician, and his mother, a poet and a painter. While enrolled in pre-school, Altin enjoyed listening to exemplary classic records by distinguished orchestras conducted by maestro Herbert von Karajan.
During the course of his college years, Altin began to explore integrating various works on a synthesizer and computer with his classical education. He later sang as a tenor in the Ankara State Opera, while also composing and arranging his first projects.
In the year 2000, Altin moved to the city of Istanbul to completely dedicate his talents towards making a name for himself in the Radio, TV and Film area as well as writing music for more than 1,000 commercials. Two years after reaching the highlight of his career, he decided to broaden his horizons and introduce his music to the U.S. making him the first and only musician from Turkey to take part in the Film Scoring Workshop by ASCAP and FOX.
During the last few years Altin has worked on various campaigns, trailers and projects like Iron-Man 3, The Amazing Spiderman, The Green Lantern, Monsters Vs. Aliens and the miniseries The Pacific. In addition, Lucas Film licensed Altin’s music for the Star Wars Blu-ray campaign, which can be seen as the ultimate honor for Altin since he collects Star Wars memorabilia and owns the second largest Star Wars collection in the world!
He has won numerous “Best Film Music” awards for his amazing music for the film Waiting for Heaven. Altin is dedicated to helping and influencing young talented individuals by serving as a judge on a number of International Film and TV awards.
Altin currently resides in both Los Angles and Istanbul where he continuously works on his beloved music.
