After competing with 110,000 other singers across the nation in 2010, Miami native Michelle Delamor landed a spot as a finalist on American Idol. Shortly after her time on the show, she was taken under the wing of Backstreet Boys singer, Howie D. and teamed up with Grammy nominated producers Ill Factor (Kevin Rudolf, Justin Timberlake, Faith Hill etc.) and Wayne Rodrigues (Natasha Bedingfield "Unwritten", Kelly Clarkson etc.) Creating a sound that showcases both her raspy edgy tone as well as her soft and vulnerable side, a fusion of Soul Pop and Rock.
As a child Michelle grew up listening to artists who influenced her such as Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, Rod Stewart, Etta James, Janice Joplin, Led Zeppelin and most certainly Michael Jackson. Some of her earliest and greatest musical memories took place in her father’s art studio where she would listen to all the blues and rock music that he’d play while painting. Studying these artists was most exciting to Michelle. Her time spent singing in gospel choirs from an early age have also helped shape her signature sound.
At the age of seven Michelle was enrolled in ballet classes but had very little interest in the time spent dancing. Instead she was intrigued by the costumes. She would mix and match her tutus with her everyday clothing and was soon nicknamed Cyndi Lauper by her family. This was the beginning of her love affair with fashion. It is an essential part of her performances as it is a visual expression of who she is. This Rock n Roll baby doll’s designs showcase both her sweet and rebellious nature.
Michelle’s purpose is to lift and inspire the lives of millions around the world through her music and motivational speaking by bringing electrifying entertainment with a conscious message. Her platform is focused on women empowerment and she is currently the spokes person for GWEN (Global Women’s Empowerment Network) and is also working closely with BEE-Loved, an organization who’s profits are currently going towards the orphanages in Vietnam as well as Cosmikids a learning enrichment program focusing on empowering youth.
Michelle captures an audience allowing them to feel a personal and intimate connection with her self and the music. She truly holds nothing back on stage as she speaks to the audience as though they were her very best friends. Her love and excitement for the music, stage and people translates clearly when watching her perform. She has had the opportunity to open for many artists such as Lil’ Wayne, Akon, Keyshia Cole, Ziggy Marely, Tamia and Jeffrey Osbourne. Embracing her Colombian, Honduran and Argentine roots Michelle plans on being a part of the Latin music market as well. For this authentic, fearless artist it is clear that the stage is home!
"I believe music is one of the most powerful forces in life, I believe through music we have the ability to connect with all of life and all people everywhere. That we can touch and be touched. That we can heal and be healed. I know without a doubt that I was put on this planet to make a difference through music. This is my mission; my purpose. It is bigger than me and I'm so ready to reach the masses. To take them on an emotional ride filled with excitement, invigoration, joy, love, peace, motivation, and inspiration. My message is Love. Love for life. Love for humanity. Love for all." –Michelle Delamor
