Chanteuse Liz Graham went through a metamorphosis of sorts before the release of her single “Charcoal on Canvas,” a song coincidentally about wanting to get to know a person “on a deeper level.” The critically acclaimed singer/songwriter has had her own share of accolades, from playing the legendary Lilith Fair, to topping the charts in the UK & Japan. Even venturing into EDM and gaining the honor of Brit-du-jour Benedict Cumberbatch hitting the dance floor to her techno track “Daylight,” in the thriller The Fifth Estate.

Now on her latest single, her evocative, detailed-filled lyrics lament “about relationships, dreams, and Sundays.” Although her voice has the strength of female folk singers such as Joni Mitchell and Natalie Merchant she chooses instead this time around to perform at more intimate clubs and lounges, that perfectly suit her style. After all “Charcoal on Canvas” is a deeply personal song about loss, regrets and trying to reach out and make a connection, where there might be none.
