Feelin’ Kind of Irie-With The Dimestore Prophets

With the nights getting longer and the days shorter, if you are already reminiscing about the Summer lost, here’s a group that will certainly drive those Winter Blues away. Three-piece groove, rock, reggae band, Dimestore Prophets have been played over 200 shows since they first came together back in 2009. The trio consists of Ray Glover (vocals, guitar), John Wilson (drums), and Eric Groff (bass). Based in central Washington (Lake Moses), the group’s diverse musical influences add to their leisurely and laid back style. “Be Yourself,” the band’s 2014 Spring offering is a fun and energetic collection of songs, that’s sure to make you feel good throughout these chillier months.

Standouts on the EP include “Good Lovin,” filled with jangling tambourines and hammond-organ sounds, it's possibly “one cowbell” away from a perfect 70s throwback. “Hey Darlin” has a pop single feel to it, with melodic vocals, off-beat riffs, and a relaxed bass-line. Throughout, you are constantly reminded that Ray Glover’s vocals have a truly infectious effect on the listener. Besides it’s occasional serious tones, you  definitely hear the inspiration from the likes of Bob Marley, Sublime, the Clash, Slightly Stoopid and the Dirty Heads.

So whether you want to casually rock-out or just kickback, you will be hard pushed not to connect with the band’s rhythm and beats. Currently touring through the Fall, so put down that pumpkin spice latte and check them out at a venue near you!
