A six year unexpected break from the DJ world did not put a damper on the dreams of aspirations of Steve Omen and all it took was one piece of inspiration to thrust him back into the world of house music. Steve, aka the Los Angeles Hardcore Disciple, has not wasted anytime since his reemergence, from his work as a DJ, producing and remixing, he has quickly become one of the up and comers in Los Angeles and Orange County.
Techno and house music began pumping through the veins of Steve at an early age after attending such events as Circa in 1992. He clearly had the itch and from their, his record collection was filled with electronic music and finally found Hardcore Techno, which suited him perfectly. From then it wasn’t just listening to the music and attending events, he wanted more.
Steve put his love of electronic music to practice and after two years of practicing and listening to his idols DJ Tron, Delta 9, Nicky Fingers and DJ Paul he finally was given a stage to perfect at JOURNEY 98. At JOURNEY 98 he shared the stage with Digital Boy and the Destroyer, both hailing from Italy’s DBOY Records. This is the day that Steve became known as the Los Angeles Hardcore Disciple.
Steve was on the rise and in 1999 he played Urban Phenomenon at the Los Angeles Sports Arena which featured artists such as; 808 State, Atomic Babies, Kenny Larkin, Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, Felix Da Housecat, Doc Martin , Brand Nubian, RUN DMC, X-Ecutioners, DJ Spooky, Mixmaster Mike, Mark Luv, Pascal, Darren J, Shy fX, Heretic, Raymond Roker, Machete, On Point, Geoff Da'Chef, Omen, MC Rage & Placid K, Ron D Core. As big of a day was that was almost the end as well as Steve had his entire record collection and equipment stolen and just like that he was off the map for six long years.
Steve turned to another career for the next six years but in 2006 a chance meeting with a local promoter turned DJ C10 (Christian Teran) changed everything for Steve. This meeting opened up Steve’s eyes to the world of electro house/progressive house. Steve jumped right in and since 2006 he has been back spinning at the hottest clubs in Los Angeles, Orange County, Hollywood and all over California. Steve now has the reputation as an emerging producer/remixer/DJ with a classic driving beat paired with an aggressive mixing technique.
Steve can be found at some of the industries top venues and events and just last year he won the Groove Cruise 10 year anniversary DJ competition. The Groove Cruise is on of the biggest events of the year and featured over 70 world-class DJs.
In addition to his live performance, Steve has released tracks on System Rec. and worked with Paul Oakenfold, Tritonal, Bassjackers, Party Theives, Nano Beats Rec. Susy Del Vecchio, Lisa Pure, Boris, Dean Mason, DMORSE and many others and has released original productions and remixes worldwide.
