The W Mexico City
What could a refined W Hotel, boasting whatever you want, whenever you want it in a warm, welcome environment, possibly have left to gain? Perhaps the beauty company Bliss, renowned not just for revitalizing skin and souls, but also the mid-90's spa revolution. Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. has acquired Bliss from LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, the world's leading luxury goods group. Bliss spas will soon be launched in luxurious W Hotels, treating tired travelers and lobby-lounging locals alike to its signature spa services and Bliss-branded skincare, bath, and body products. Such an decadent combination is likely to make visitors want to stay forever.
The first Bliss spa designed for W Hotels is expected to debut at the W New York late 2004, followed by Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago. Additional Bliss Spas in the U.S. and abroad will emerge as W Hotels continues its rapid global expansion. In fact, a total of 20 W Hotels will open just by the end of 2004, including properties in Seoul and Montreal.
Bliss currently operates three stand-alone day spas, one in Soho, New York, one on East 57th Street in New York, and one on Sloane Avenue in London. W Hotels will also focus on strengthening Bliss' other business lines including its robust products catalog, featuring Bliss and Laboratoire Remede brands, and its international retail business available at upscale outlets such as Sephora, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman-Marcus, Bloomingdale's, Macy's, Harvey Nichols, and Harrods.
Bliss Founder Marcia Kilgore
The Founder and original Miss Bliss, Marcia Kilgore, will remain as the Chief Creative Consultant, creating new treatment trends, developing seriously effective skincare, and writing her witty catalog copy. She also hopes to get a little time in 'behind the chair', as her first love is still - she admits - blackhead extraction. As a professional esthetician, leading beauty authority, skincare aficionado, new ingredient technology nerd, anti-aging product addict, demanding cosmetic critic, and of course, the entrepreneurial founder of the Bliss business, she states, "Our goal was to offer super-effective treatments in an uncontrived, attitude-free atmosphere." She will now consult on various areas of operation including product development and design, advertising, and promotional work. "This is a very exciting opportunity for Bliss, and brings along with it the concrete and synergistic opportunities for expansion that we've always hoped for," she reveals. "It's a perfect fit
We're looking forward to helping W guests find Bliss."
Lemon & Sage Softening Soak
Effective Bliss treatments consist of luxuries such as the Ginger Rub (an extensive massage with ginger root and detoxifying essential oils), the Triple Oxygen facial (includes a fruit acid wash, a calming oxygen and milk mask, and other supplements to hydrate and vitaminize the skin), the Rosy Toes pedicure (includes a water-milk petal soak), the Super Sleeping Peel (an anti-wrinkle complexion reconstructor that reduces large pores, wrinkles, and sun damage), and the Lemon & Sage Softening Soak (a silkening gel-to-milk soak). These scrumptious indulgences embody Kilgore's dedication to quality; she states, "To me, details are everything. Anybody can do ordinary." Other treatments include body wraps (warmly cocooning the body to stimulate circulation and activate de-bloating through perspiration), micro-dermabrasion (mini jet streams of crystals used to blast dead cells off your face to smooth all skin problems), and reflexology (strategic foot massage using reflex points).
Evidence of the new union is already taking form, such as in the special Bliss Weekend at W Hotels package offering a continental breakfast in bed, a complimentary in-room movie, and an overnight bag created by Bliss exclusively for W Hotels, an $80 retail value, featuring some of the hottest Bliss products. Of course, W Hotels already boast an array of swanky amenities to soothe and stimulate its guests. These include Living Room scents to balance your yin and yang, exotic Wonderland botanicals to embrace your inner Buddha, a bar fit for the Rat Pack, and a Wonderland CD as smooth as the Reverend Al Green. Not to mention an inner sanctum of in-room dining, sensory meeting spaces, spa luxuries and sky-lit pools. And all upon a foundation of innovative, custom-designed space, exceptional service and staff, and comfortable, technologically-advanced rooms, fully stocked with everything from Aveda bath products to plush down comforters.
