The District by Hannah An Review - Good Food, Good Vibe

Located on West 3rd Street in Los Angeles, The District by Hannah An, is a must stop destination. I had the chance to meet with some friends there for a peaceful and tasty dinner. It has a unique experience from the normal restaurant feeling. When you walk by the outside of The District you get a welcoming feeling from the Edison lights emanating from the Hoi An room.  As you walk up the steps it’s like you're entering an old manor home with century-old doors.

Coriander-Crusted Lamb

We were seated in a table by the outside window. It was a quiet evening at The District. We started the evening with some appetizers, the Tuna Poke, the Lemongrass Chicken Satay, and the Cha Gio Roll.  All of them had excellent flavors, and were placed beautifully on their plates. If I had to choose a favorite it would be the Lemongrass Chicken Satay, the chicken breast was perfectly cooked, and not too dry and the Vietnamese satay sauce was delicious!

Crab and Uni Sashimi Noodles

It was easy to talk to one another as we waited for the main dishes to arrive. The first one we tried was the Shaken Beef (Bo Luc Lac), one of the signature dishes. The cubed filet mignon was perfectly cooked and mixed with the a bit of red onion, garlic, baby tomatoes, Thai basil, and gai lan, intensifying the flavor of the mignon.

Tamarin Black Cod (Canh Chua)

Chilean Sea Bass (Cha Ca)

Next came another of Hannah’s signature dishes, the District Wok fried lobster.  The meat was again delectably cooked, and topped a plate of flavored homemade noodles. The final main dish we tried that night was the Chilean Sea Bass with rice noodles, my favorite dish of the night. The sea bass pulled apart as you gently put your fork on it, and the taste was fresh and fragrant.

Grass Fed Prime Rib Eye

Between the main dishes and the dessert I ordered a mint tea which was perfect to settle the stomach after all the different flavors it had enjoyed.  Soon the desserts arrived. A gluten free chocolate cheesecake with a scoop of ice cream, and a banana tapioca pudding topped with sesame seeds!

Hannah’s Pho Bo

At the end of the night my only regret was that I didn’t have room in my stomach to try more of the dishes offered on the menu. That just means I will have to return!  Whether it’s a night out on the town, and you are walking down 3rd street, or you're looking for a relaxed yet elegant place to meet up with friends and family, The District by Hannah An is the place to go.  The restaurant itself is a two story building and has been a host to many private events.  Visit them online, or call to set up your reservation, or event today!
