OC Kids Restaurant Week - Helping Kids Discover Their Palate

Attention of all of you kids out there who love to eat, which is pretty much all of you. You finally have your own week, as the Orange County Restaurant Association is introducing the OC Kids Restaurant Week, which will run from June 27th through July 3rd.

118 Degrees owner and Chef Jenny Ross

The Orange County Restaurant Association will produce Kids Restaurant Week as an annual event, along with its biannual Orange County Restaurant Week and the annual Happy Hour Week. The kids week is a great chance to try some new and tasty food from some restaurants that they might not have been exposed to previously, such as 118 Degrees in Costa Mesa.

“We really want the food to be fun for the kids and we try to find things that are a common flavor and then use a healthy alternative to give them a great tasting menu item but that is also healthy for them,” said Chef and 118 Degrees owner Jenny Ross. “We try to make our food as accessible as possible and an event like this really gives people and inexpensive way to give this way of eating a try”

118 Degrees, just celebrated its third anniversary and Jenny has put her stamp on the community when it comes to an organic dining lifestyle. In addition to her restaurant, she had partnered with Whole Foods to carry her Jenny Ross Living Foods, she offers a delivery service, and she offers classes and also has a book out. This is not only a great way to introduce kids to a healthier way of eating, but the adults out there can also learn a thing or two from Jenny.

“My goal has always been to empower the community by offering a fun and healthy alternative: fresh, organic living cuisine, in a comfortable atmosphere that is inviting and educational. The food should be beautiful and the experience, one to share with family and friends,” said Chef Jenny.

To kick the week off you can attend the Kids Restaurant Week launch party, which is set for Saturday, June 26th from noon to 4 p.m. at The District at Tustin Legacy. This FREE event is designed for the entire family and will take place throughout The District Promenade where families can enjoy mini bounce houses, live music by The Rockaholix & Johnny Come Lately, face painting, balloon art, cupcake decorating, food tastings, interactive booths, and much more.  Families will also be able to experience various activities and special offers throughout The District’s many stores and restaurants, with mascots on hand to lead the way.
