If you’d like to get a bit more creative this holiday season you could invite a loved one, family or friends to a very colorful and entertaining evening of Teatro ZinZanni located next to the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Orange County.
Performing in a Spiegeltent from the 1920is, this small but very interantional and eccentric group of artists will keep you company all through the evening and encourage you to laugh while you are eating an elegant 5 course feast prepared by Patina's Joachim Splichal. The pre-fixed meal includes a choice of one out of three delicious entrees including the most tender braised short ribs with truffle potato fundue, baby carrots in mushroom vine sauce, salt baked Scottish Salmon with smoked Fingerling potatoes, roasted Peperonata in basil lemon crème fraiche or butternut squash ravioli in vanilla butter sage and parmesan, an intergalactic surprise appetizer, soup, salad and of course a decadent dessert that will be served through the course of a three hour performance.
The evening starts of with cocktails in the lobby where you can get a tasty drink and are able to roam around a gift shop, a small boutique really, filled with props, masks, theatrical hats and jackets from the 1920is, 1930is and the 1940is. When you enter the main tent you will be catapulted into a different era and encounter the performers who come to your table and introduce themselves.
The show, directed by Norm Langill and choreographed by Brett Nugent has a contemporary vaudeville feel and much unlike the old overly polished acts invites to an evening of love, chaos and dinner. The tent, one of only a handful left in the world, is the perfect backdrop for this unique group of divas, musicians and acrobats and will ensure you to get a closer look of the artists as well as your seated neighbors. The performers include: the charming and very French Les Petites Freres, the quirky comedian Kevin Kent, the tall and naughty Austrian Amazon Manuela Horn, legendary blues singer Duffy Bishop, soprano Juliana Rambaldi, high-flying trapeze comedians Buffons Die Maiers from Germany, the Australian comic and juggler extraordinaire Joel Salom and the sensational contortionist and Hula Hoop artist Vita Radionova from Ukrain. A treat is also the ZinZanni orchestra that may surprise you performing classics like Hank Williams as well as Rock’n Roll songs and some Jimmy Hendrix that will knock your socks off.
