Is There Sex After Marriage - Theatre Review

What do you do to spice up your marriage after you’ve been together for 20 years?  The world premiere of the comedy, Is There Sex After Marriage, written and directed by Jeff Gould and produced by Mike Abramson of Home Run Productions opened at the Two Roads Theater in Studio City.

Is there Sex After Marriage - Theatre Review

Set in present day Los Angles, the play opens on three supposedly happily married couples.  Long married Roger and Sherry entertain their friends the newly weded Zack and Beth and neighbors Joe and Mindy.  Roger complains that his marriage is no longer as passionate as it once was because Sherry, who devotes her time to save-the-planet activism, feels that Roger has lost interest in her.

One night, the pair accidentally find themselves at a swinger party and are startled at who they meet there.

The events of the evening have effects on their marriage and we can only hope that their love and union will survive the twists and turns.

Sex After Marriage-Theatre Review - Awkward Moments

The play was funny, despite some awkward moments.

Perfectly cast by Patrica Baca, C.S.A, the play included Jaret Sacrey, Rene Ashton  (who could be Amy Adams’ twin), Joel Berti , Anne Leighton, Brad Lee Wind, and Natalie Salins.  Understudies included Gillian Brashera, Melinda Hughes, Chris Ufland and Juliet Lemar

Is There Sex After Marriage - Theatre Review - Another Marriage changed

So, is there sex after marriage?  You bet there is….but not necessarily with your spouse.

This is an adult play, not one I would bring my kids to!

This play is the third in a series of relationship comedies written by Gould.  These include “Troubled Waters”. “It’s Just Sex,” and “Is There Sex After Marriage?”  The two prior plays were commercial successes and this one will likely follow suit.  Out of 10, I would give it a 7.5.

Performances run from March 21, 2014 through May 4th.  Show times at Friday and Saturday at 8 pm and Sundays at 7 pm.  Tickets cost $34 with discounts for seniors and students using promo code 209 ($25)  .  For reservations call 323 960 5770323 960 5770.   Running time is 90 minutes with no intermission.
