A book, a movie and now on stage, and this version might be the most interesting of the three, as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is coming to The Hudson Backstage Theatre beginning January 12th.
You are going to see all of your favorites, Charlie, Willy Wonka, Violet, Augustus, Veruca Salt and everyone else that you know and love and of course the Oompa Loompas. The play is by Richard R. George, adapted from the fantasy by Ronald Dahl, musical stage adaptation by Nancy Horak, directed by Nancy Horak and Jeff Lucas. You are going to get the best of all versions with this performance and Nancy said that this adaptation is the closest to the movie version.
"We previously did three solos, but we decided to add two more so each child would have a solo, we just had so much singing talent with this cast," Nancy said.
Nancy has been involved in a wide assortment of entertainment ventures through the years including the 'D.E.E. Studio Productions Performing Arts Academy' and previously adapted The Addams Family for the theatre as well, so you know with her creative mind that Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will be entertaining. To add her own little twist on the original version, Nancy added the Wonka Divas to perform in between stage changes.
You can expect an amazing performance and a chance to introduce your kids to the theatre by attending a performance they already are likely very familiar with, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. This will only be in town for a short time so make sure to buy your tickets early.
