The Explorers Ship from "Creature from the Black Lagoon"
|
The premiere of the "Creature from the Black Lagoon" showed at the Universal Studios in LA on July 1, 2009. The Tony Award®-nominated Director and Choreographer Lynne Taylor-Corbett and Scenic Designer James Youmans brought the “Creature” to life. Matt Ferrell playing the “Creature” had a grand entrance and performance to boot. The beginning of the performance started outside of the theatre as the “Creature” supposedly was arriving in a traveling aquarium. To the attendees surprise the “Creature” escaped and the park rangers captured him to the crowd’s relief.

This bizarre love story of beauty and beast entwined in the Amazon jungle became reality with exotic sounds. The main characters take the stage Mark (Brandon Ferleigh) and David (Marc Oka) and an ichthyologist, Kay (Sandra Allen) in search for the outlandish “Creature” as fog envelopes the stage.

Performers Bow as Audience Stand with Applause at a Great Performance
|
The story unfolds as Kay longing from affection from her fiancé Mark falls strangely for the creature. During the entire show the audience is on their toes with witty technology references and sexual innuendos. This show lasts 25 minutes, so it provides a great break from walking the entire park.
Some other rides recommended would be the unexpectedly abrupt ride “Revenge of the Mummy” and “WaterWorld” another show with a splash. “Revenge of the Mummy” is mind boggling as the rollercoaster takes one through a dark tunnel with flashing lights and mummified bodies reaching out and barely missing the group. At “WaterWorld” be sure to sit in the appropriate seats if getting soaked is not your ideal. The audience becomes part of the show with water, enthusiasm of the performers and a world wind of a story.
