The Ten Tenors at The Pantages - Conquer Los Angeles

Tuesday, October 24th, The Pantages Theatre in Hollywood witnessed something spectacular an opera performance that pleased both opera purists and fans of the modernized version of the genre.

THE TEN TENORS have been seen by over 77 million people, on four continents after they burst upon the concert scene in Germany in 2001. The classically-trained, all-Australian singing sensation have enjoyed a relentless touring schedule with sold-out performances in Europe, Asia and their native Australia; appearing alongside such artists as Rod Stewart, Andrea Boccelli, Alanis Morissette, Willie Nelson and many others. The ensemble for THE TEN TENORS features Craig Atkinson, Shannon Brown, Drew Graham, Craig Hendry, David Kidd, Liam McLachlan, Dion Molinas, Stewart Morris, Adrian Phillips, Jason Short, and Jeff Teale.

Stars, media, and Los Angeles elite gathered to witness the opening night of the internationally acclaimed Australian singing phenomenon. Spotted on the red carpet were stars of soaps as well as fresh Hollywood faces of Oscar hopefuls like J. Karen Thomas and Colette Divine from Who Killed the Electric Car.

The beautiful, Art Nouveau Pantages decor seemed like the perfect setting for the spectacular talent of the young men who are taking the Opera scene by storm combining the classical with the modern.

As promised by the lively introduction, in sexy Australian accent, there were a few tears, a few laughs and a few songs that brought the audience to tears and laughs at the same time. THE TEN TENORS delivered a spectacular show, one keeping audience on their feet again and again begging the mesmerizing young men for one last song after the other. Much hotter than the Three Tenors and with much talent for comedic entertainment THE TEN TENORS delivered opera favorites such as Pavarotti's signature 'Nessun Dorma' and Mozart's 'Figaro' as well as modern classics like Queen's 'Mama Mia', 'Somebody to Love' and songs by Simon & Garfunkel, James Bond theme 'You Only Live Twice', and Australian folk tunes, adding some of their own interpretation, emotion and humor.

Overall THE TEN TENORS deliver a vibrant combination of vocal strength and a performance that involves plenty of wit as well as many show enhancing details, which made for a spectacular and entertaining concert from start to the grand finale. My only wish is that the show was even longer and, perhaps this is just me but, louder! Even though the beautiful voices gave me Goosebumps, I got the feeling that I would have been even more captivated if the music left no room for thoughts and filled the Pantages space entirely. Other spectators, however, seemed undoubtedly pleased Kamy Motesharei of FOX proclaimed 'I really enjoyed it, it was a lot of fun and filled with pleasant surprises'.
The Los Angeles opening night will benefit AIDS Project Los Angeles.  On Sunday, October 15th, just nine days before their L.A. opening, THE TEN TENORS will help jump-start this year's AIDS Walk Los Angeles, singing 'Here's To The Heroes' in salute to the walkers just prior to the event kick-off.
