Modest Mouse will return to the road soon late this summer for a mix of Canadian dates and US festival appearances.
The Washington-based indie-rock band, accompanied by Grandaddy guitarist Jim Fairchild, will begin Aug. 17 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, followed by three Canadian gigs before continuing on to the US. The 14-city run includes performances at San Diego's Street Scene (8/28), San Francisco's Outside Lands Festival (8/30) and Seattle's Bumbershoot Festival (9/7), among others.
Modest Mouse’s latest release, No One’s First And You’re Next, is an EP creation of B-sides culled from recording sessions for their previous two releases ( Good News for People Who Love Bad News, and We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank). No One’s First is filled with the influence of both albums, but is full of new sonic sounds and new transitions never heard before by Indie Rock Modest Mouse.
The group's most recent full-length studio album, " We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank," came out in early 2007 and debuted atop The Billboard. In May, the band released " Satellite Skin," a limited-edition 7" single backed by another new track, " Guilty Cocker Spaniels".
Another limited-edition 7" single featuring two new songs--" Autumn Beds" and " Whale Song" became available on June 23 at retailers, as well as on iTunes.
" We Were Dead ..." followed 2004's " Good News for People Who Love Bad News," the band's first platinum-certified album, featuring the hit single " Float On."
Modest Mouse is said to begin working on a new studio album shortly, though no official announcements have been made.
