The music world has taken a new path, with the internet allowing for a number of new platforms for music to be heard and one gem that has cultivated from this change is Ingrid Michaelson.
The hit show 'Grey's Anatomy' came across Ms. Michaelson on the internet and offered her the chance to have one of her songs featured on the show. She took them up on their offer and the rest is history. Ms. Michaelson's myspace site has had as many as 10,000 hits per day, and she is also very highly ranked on iTunes in terms of sales and she has also had music featured on the show 'One Tree Hill' as well as on a Chevy commercial that runs in Canada.
"The independent artist is allowed to get your music into places you used to not be able to without being on a label," Ms. Michaelson said.
Ms. Michaelson's popularity gained even more momentum on Tuesday, June 5th, as her CD "Girls and Boys" was released into independent record stores nationwide.
The CD "Girls and Boys" is centered on Ms. Michaelson's flawless voice, with the majority of songs having a backing of guitar and piano that manage to stay in the background enough to accompany her "indie pop with a twist" music as she classified it. The majority of the songs are along the soft and slow line, but "Die Alone" kicks the CD off with a bit of a more uptempo beat that Ms. Michaelson sounds as comfortable with as the rest of the CD.
Ingrid has the following upcoming shows:

Fingerprint Records in Long Beach, June 8 at 7 p.m. (Free in-store performance)
SongCheck Live in Laguna Beach, June 8 at 10 p.m.
