Charlie and the Chocolate Sunday Show

Aah, comedy' To me, there is nothing more theraputic than laughing' well, maybe one thing'

Tasty comedy

Hey, get your minds out of the gutter!  I meant laughing while seated in a beautifully refurbished, comfortable, classy, state of the art venue with quality lights and sound' which takes you from ordinary into extraordinary and makes for a relaxing, fun night out. This was my ACME experience.

I was able to valet park steps away from the entrance and discovered that a beautiful Italian restaurant was attached to the theatre, where patrons are able to catch a cocktail at the bar before the show.

Fun on a Sunday night.

It was opening night of the Charlie and the Chocolate Sunday Show, which is described as 'a candy colored romp through a psychedelic funny factory'. It is a collection of truly top-notch sketches from some of the newest faces at the ACME Comedy Theatre. Charlie makes fun of everything from Willy Wonka to the Terminator to the sexual role of men and women in today's society. Funny fun stuff. 'Anything sexier' was my favorite. Roles were reversed and the women were able to dish as different men entered a party dressed in many of the sexy looks men find sexy on women. Trust me, you just have to see this one to appreciate it. All of the sketches were original, interesting and hilarious.

Celebrating it's 15th year anniversary at the forefront of the LA comedy scene, ACME has featured the early talents of Wayne Brady, Adam Carolla, Sean Hayes, Fred Willard, and Wil Wheaton, among others. ACME Players have appeared in hundreds of films, sitcoms and commercials. ACME Players have gone on to win seven Emmys and two Peabody awards as well as producing shows like 'Friends', 'Saturday Night Live', 'Just Shoot Me' 'Grounded For Life' and many more.

Recently, ACME Comedy Theatre has come under the direction and ownership of Travis Oates, who is an accomplished writer/actor/comedien. His book on writing sketch comedy, 'The ACME Method' is now in bookstores. The ACME Comedy Theatre features five different main stage companies, with different shows on different nights. Go to their website for times and dates. Perfect for dinner and a great night out.
