The Memory of Water Review - Entertaining Play, Full of Dark Humor and Heart

The Memory of Water, winner of the "Laurence Olivier Award for Best Comedy," this absorbingly entertaining play, full of dark humor and heart, features three sisters – paranoid Mary, uptight Teresa, and strung out and bratty Catherine – have returned home to the north of England for their mother's funeral, setting the stage for hilarious sibling jealousies, witty bickering, and doped-up soul searching. Making her appearance as well is the ghost of their mother. Each sister holds distinct memories of their childhood, each has her own unique perspective on what these memories mean. A hit in London's West End, The Memory of Water vividly brings home all the joys and sorrows of family relationships.

This play was absolutely in tune with the raw reality of normal families when loosing a loved one and using this circumstance to reveal secrets due to the vulnerability of the event. It was such a pleasure and relieve to watch theater actors just living in the moment without having to “act”. I felt that I was intruding this very delicate family matter, that’s how intimate I felt this play was. I laughed, I cried, I lived this chaotic event with them, and that was the main reason why I felt connected with this family from beginning to end.

Here's another great reason to come and see this play... In partnership with the Alzheimer's Association bringing awareness about this disease, every 67 seconds someone in the United States is diagnosed, this is a growing epidemic. Portions of ticket sales will be donated.
