The Chuck Rivers Show Review - Comedy Show Takes You Back To The 70s!

This is not your ordinary comedy show! As soon as you walk into King King’s comfortable, dim lit atmosphere you look onto the stage and are transported back to the 70s. The show format is set up like a 70s talk show and the guests are eccentric, hilarious and have polar opposite personalities! Watching them bump heads and have their huge personalities squeeze all onto one stage makes the comedic quality even better. The jokes are good and fit for any age group, but what makes the show funny is not only the jokes but mainly the characters. The costumes, hair and makeup are spot on yet they don’t feel like costumes. You feel like you’re actually living in the 70s tuning into a late night talk show with Chuck Rivers.
The main character and host, Chuck Rivers, is comparable to Johnny Carson and Mike Douglas...well if they had a drunken child together. Chuck Rivers is played by the talented Laird Macintosh. His celebrity and unusual guests are played by Frank Caeti, Maile Flangan, Becky Thyre, Sam Pancake, Beth Crosby and a rotating cast of comedic guests including Wendi McLendon-Covey (“Bridesmaids”), Mindy Sterling (Austin Powers), Julie Brown (“Melissa and Joey”), and many more.
Another unique part of the show were the commercial breaks. All the commercials were live and played by new characters but with a funny twist. If only all tv commercials were as entertaining as the ones on The Chuck Rivers Show. Not only do you have the actual show and commercials but you also have a live band, dancers and singers. This isn’t just any singing, this is actual good Vegas style singing and dancing. The singers and dancers could have their own separate show and be a hit. The talent level of the entire cast is overwhelming. Not only is it a comedy show but you also feel like you’re at a groovy party with all the cool kids and some crazy ones! Definitely a good show to take your date to.
