Ooh la la, Sony Pictures Entertainment Smurf 2 Screening Party was held on July 24, 2013 at 10202 Washington Boulevard, Culver City, in The Jimmy Stewart Screening Room. Sony rolled out the blue carpet, and in lieu of a limosine, The Smurfs ("Magical Creatures" by Sony Animation), Smurfette, Vexy, Papa, Hackus, Grouchy, Clumsy and Vanity, arrived in a blue Dash Smart West Coast Custom car sponsored by Walmart.
Upon entering, it felt like arriving into "Smurfland". Smurf dogs, chicken tenders, macaroni bites, and scewers of fruit, it was a kids' food haven. For dessert there was frozen yogurt with blue gummie bears and blue candy. There were lots of yummy treats for the kids and adults to enjoy.
Papa smurf posed for photo ops which could be retrieved via email, was very impressive: as your photo was snapped, your email address was simultaneously input into an iPad for immediate download. Hundreds of smiling kids accompanied by their parents attended the Smurf2 Screening Party.
Despite the many young children that attended, naughty and nice, it was not very noisy and chaotic, a very fun and comfortable atmosphere. There were even "Smurf 2" play station 3 video games in the lobby to entertain the kids waiting for the movie to begin. Each table was decorated in birthday party style with crayons and an assortment of SMURFS drawing paper to colour. There were blue cupcakes, toy smurfs and buckets you could store your treats and gifts in to take home. Guests were very happy to see "colour me mine " one of the event sponsors, with complimentary unfinished ceramic figures of Smurfette and an elaborate assortment of colored paints and brushes to decorate them with while waiting for the movie to start. Colour me mine will fire all of the finished smurfettes which can be picked up at a store closest to them.
No Smurf fan left behind! The theatre screening rooms were so packed the staff had to bring in chairs from outside into the theatre to accommodate all the guests in attendance. Movie director Raja Gosnell greeted the guests before the movie with a brief presentation concluding with "enjoy the movie"and "make it your own". After the movie, gift bags were given to all the kids, some containing Smurf 2 video games for wii , stuffed animals, smurf puzzles by pressman smurf figurines, and a book "Smurfs in Paris".
It was a pleasant and delightful movie experience for all ages. Everyone left the event smiling and cheerful. The Smurf2 party screening was definitely a "Smurfy Good Time". I wonder if this film inspired Jay Z and Beyonce' to name their baby "Blue". Hash tag #Smurf2 @Smurf2. #Sony #Animation #TheNaughtys #Smurfette.
