“I am very happy to show my Santa Monica series here, the work of three years in my studio painting the light - the Los Angelinos relaxing in the idyllic parks by the ocean,” says Healy.

Healy has worked in many mediums, such as silk-screen and engraving. She talks about her process, “I use oil mostly, though I like the vibrant fun of acrylic colors, there is more poetry in the way oil on linen, or canvas ages…it seems to deepen with resonance over time."

She adds,  "Matisse said a painting should be like an armchair, to ease and relax the weary mind after a demanding day."

The opening reception will be held at Upper West (3321 Pico Blvd. in SM), on Sunday, July 14th from 4:00pm to 7:00 pm.
