June 24th, 2013--BEVERLY HILLS, CA-- LA's BEST After School Enrichment program raised $1,170,000 culminating Saturday night with the "LA's BEST Honors," a black-tie gala at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, announced Carla Sanger, President & CEO of LA's BEST.
NBA Player Chris Paul looked fabulous in a tuxedo and served as the events host for the night. " I plan to just relax, and enjoy my wife and kids." Paul auctioned his talents, agreeing to teach private basketball lessons, raising $27,000 for the organization. CNN reporter and Mistress of Ceremonies, Michaela Pereira says " It's such a wonderful cause." Miss South Carolina says that she recommends that young girls try pageants because "Pageants teach you the essentials of being a woman." Exteme Makeover's Dr. Bill Dorfman and his family looked excellent, and Bill snapped a few shots of himself using his own phone on the red carpet! " I am not here for that!", exclaimed gorgeous 72 year old Jane Fonda when asked about her next movie. The event celebrated the organization’s 25th anniversary and honored Lubov and Max Azria (BCBGMAXAZRIAGROUP) for Distinguished Achievement. LA84 President Anita DeFrantz was honored for supporting the organization’s Sports and Fitness programs. Warner Bros. Records Chairman and CEO Cameron Strang received the LA’s BEST Honor for music, and Dr. Bill Dorfman (“Extreme Makeover”) received the award for health.
LA's BEST - Better Educated Students for Tomorrow - is a nationally recognized after school education, enrichment and recreation program serving more than 28,000 children with the most pressing needs throughout the City of LA! The stars were a pleasure, and such fun to chat with!
