Bright lights, buccaneers, and booty, what more could a gal ask for? Floor-length murals of 16th century pirates plundered the walls while gold treasure and trinkets decorated the large interior of Greystone Manor during the launch party for the new Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag video game on Tuesday, October 22nd. Watch out world, game on.
Elijah Wood played host to the soiree, ushering in an impressive collection of celebrities and gamers abound, including Emile Hirsh, Hal Sparks, Robert Buckley, Scott Porter, Ross Phillips, K.D. Aubert, Young Jinsu, Australian boy group The Janoskian’s, and Fuse Newscorrespondent Jack Osbourne, just to name a few. Ubisoft, in conjunction with the national music television network, Fuse hosted the release party for the highly anticipated addition to the Assassin’s Creed Saga, which is set to release worldwide on October 29th, 2013 for PlayStation®3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo’s Wii U™.
Inside the Launch
The new installment to the Assassin’s Creed game series catapults gamers into the year 1715, where a lawless pirate republic has laid siege to the Caribbean. Our protagonist is the fearsome young captain Edward Kenway, a name that holds weight with even the infamous Blackbeard. Attendees of the party were able to play the new game on PlayStation 4 systems and big screen televisions positioned inside the venue. The game was fast paced and full of action. Recording artist Young Jinsu noted, “I like the freedom that the player is given in this game. There’s a lot of control in what you can do. I’m a big fan of the Assassin’s Creed games and this one seems to be no exception”.
Keeping (partly) true to the new game’s reality, party patrons also enjoyed pirate-themed photo booths equipped with captain’s hats, chains, swords, skulls, and the like, and complete with a green screen backdrop scene from the actual game. The photographs ensured a memorable night (although the stocked open bar put up a good fight). The DJ provided the music and the guests provided the moves, filling up the dance floor and partying like it was 1715.
The first Assassin’s Creed video game was released on November 13, 2007. The game quickly became a success, leading to a top selling historical action-adventure franchise. Assassin’s Creed has since evolved into full force entertainment brand, with products ranging from comic books to mobile games, novels, and even a feature-length film in the works.
Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag will be released on the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft, and Nintendo’s Wii U™ system on October 29, 2013, Windows PC on November 19, 2013 and as day one launch titles for PlayStation 4 from Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. and Xbox One.
