WIFTI Summit-Conference Opens

The Women In Film and Television International Summit begins at the Park Hyatt Hotel

Female filmmakers from around the world will be in town this weekend for the 2005 Women In Film & Television International (WIFTI) Summit. It is billed as a forum for networking, sharing information, and screening films, not to mention a good number of lunches and parties.

The Summit has a number of panels for attendees on a wide range of subjects. There are panels on all the aspects of working in television, of making feature films, of building a career, and of course, on the status of women in the entertainment business.

It was the deplorable under representation of women among the ranks of television writers that served as the original impetus for creating Women in Film back in 1973. Since then, Women in Film has worked tirelessly to promote women in the industry organizing networking and mentoring opportunities, along with providing finishing funds and screenings of films.

Jane LaBonte, Director of Programming for Women In Film welcomes attendies to the summit

The WIFTI Summit will bring together women (and men) from its 17 US Chapters and 36 International affiliates for four days beginning Saturday, October 29 and running through Tuesday, November 1 at the Park Hyatt Hotel on the Avenue of the Stars in Century City. Many events are open to nonmembers.
