LASplash.com: Los Angeles Entertainment Hollywood Shop Till You Drop Event By Mandee Phenix
Sunday morning, through the afternoon, was spent at the 'Hollywood Shop till' You Drop Celebrity Fashion Show' in Studio City, at The Sportsmen's Lodge. When I walked through the door, I heard the music coming from the DJ and saw different colors everywhere. There were many different 'Up and Coming' designers there. Starting with the accessories, I thought that KBD offered creative and striking pieces. From hand crafted leather goods to personal accessories. KBD can be best described as when art meets fashion function. Another accessory designer was Julie Lynn Gealer with Little Miss Bling Bling. Her handcrafted, one of a kind jewelry designs combining hand-blown glass from Venice, Italy with 14K Gold-filled beads simply took my breath away.
Janice Tunnell of Illusions Cosmetics, gave me a lip gloss from her line, and it stayed on my lips for over an hour! Tunnell pointed out that Illusions is a cosmetic line for all woman of color. Fun, fresh and beautiful; a line that enhances all that is beautiful within you.
Then I noticed a clothing line that definitely caught my eye with the name alone. Porno Blonde Clothing. As I introduced myself to the designer, Eddy Jones, he told me the story behind the name. Being a hair stylist for different Adult Entertainers, he is known for doing the best 'Porno Blonde' color. Jones took that idea and created the clothing line. Pictures of hemp slogans, sexy girls, and the American flag are some of the symbols incorporated in this cutting edge style that definitely works. Loved this line, and they seemed to love me since they gave me a free shirt! Thanks guys.
As I wondered what I would notice next, I saw tank tops, jackets, jeans and shirts that were trendy and sparkly. I spoke with the designer, Crystal Brill of Jean Girl (aka Sophie), and she let me know that Celebrities like Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan wear her line. I thought that it was hip, trendy and VERY reasonably priced.
I also enjoyed seeing the different designers featuring their lines down the runway. Models strutted their stuff as Rachel Melvin of 'Days of Our Lives' introduced the designers and their lines. A Model that definitely stood out was Ashlee Desire. She had a lot of energy, was very attractive, and showed a lot of confidence. All of the models were great. It seemed like at times I was watching a play. These guys and girls were definitely having a fun time, as they wore hip clothes down the runway.
Seeing Yoga Army designer Sandy Wee on the runway was definitely hot. This edgy and sexy line offers its own style. But be careful, you can easily spend $100 on an item! A lot of detail and creativity goes into Yoga Army.
If you couldn't make this show, then I would definitely recommend that you go to the next one! It was well executed by the organizations so that people like myself could just sit back and enjoy what was being offered to us, which was style, fun and fashion.
