Candor Studio Review - Comedy Fanatics Welcome

Candor Studio presents a channel for comedy enthusiasts and comedians alike in West Hollywood, California.

Entrance off Fairfax

The experience of Candor Studio in June of 2009 is best expressed first-hand.  One enters through a doorway and walks down a long corridor not knowing what to expect.  A host greets and seats guests in a cozy room facing the stage.  Luckily, since Candor Studio is an invitation only event, there is no cover charge.  Arriving early for a seat is a must, yet a live video plays in the party room for latecomers.  While one awaits the performance, a drink service available, chatting away is common being shoulder-to-shoulder with comedy aficionados.   As the lights dim, the show begins.

Candor Studio Theatre

During this comedy show, all were graced with 15 minute performances from Ben Morrison, Steve Hofstetter, Jen Kirkman and Corey Holcomb.  Ashton Kutcher’s side-kick in Punk'd, Ben Morrison, emcee and producer of the Twitter Festival LA.  This man is a must-see, as he drops the audience to the floor with his bit on “SIGNS.”  As a veteran of "Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson" to ABC's "Barbara Walter's Special," Steve Hofstetter is becoming a seasoned comedian.  One of Entertainment Weekly's "Top 12 Comedians To Watch," Jen Kirkman took the stage discussing marital bliss (?), as the audience applauds.  Corey Holcomb uses his “ghetto” lifestyle for comedy and has a recurring role on the NBC's "The Tonight Show."  The Markey changes monthly by giving experienced comedians a comedic location to strut their stuff.

Not only does this venue entertain the public, but it sets up a positive outlet for comedians.  Prior to the performance, these comedians hone their skills with Abbey Sibucao, co-creator and producer of “Stand Up at Candor.”  The audience is filled with lovers of comedy, other comedians and talent scouts.  Along with a performance at Candor Studio, the comedians are again placed in the spotlight on Hulu.com, the #2 video on YouTube.  After the show, the comedians are given a video of the performance for their portfolio.  This is a great opportunity for a comedian with experience.

Wondering how to get in the doors of Candor Studio?  Well, if you are a comedian, Abbey Siducao has the final say.  If one is interested in attending, a request for an invitation must be made through their RSVP at CandorTV.com.  There are the lucky few, whom are invited through close connections.  So join the laughter and get your spot or seat.
