Do you like Jazz? Do you like Reggae? Do you like Jazz and Reggae? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, you don't want to miss the upcoming 21st Annual Jazz Reggae Festival at UCLA. Taking place Memorial Day weekend, the highly anticipated two-day concert plays host to some of the most amazing musical artists in the worlds of soul, hip-hop, R&B, Reggae and dancehall.
Kicking off on Sunday, May 27th, UCLA's Intramural Field will be enveloped by avid fans ready to hear the rich tones of Grammy Award-winning artist Jill Scott. Scott will lead what is referenced as 'Jam Day' which will also include Lupe Fiasco, Les Nubians, Soullive, Christian Scott, J*Davey and Dujeous. While listening to the music, concert attendees will be able to savor the taste and enjoy the sights of this cultural hub. Many vendors will be on hand selling everything from pallet-pleasing delicacies to clothing and compact discs. Pouring over to Monday, May 28th, the festivities will make way for the rambunctious sounds Reggae artists like Luciano, Cham, General Degree, Mr. Peppa, Joseph Israel, Triniti, Syren, and Eljai.
What is important about this year's festivities is the step toward the ' Green' side. Yes, the festival is paying attention to our environment by using eco-limos for the transportation of artists, the planting of trees to offset emissions and dedicating a resource area to educate attendees. Fun and environmental-friendly, now that's what I call a must-attend event!
Now that you are amp'd about attending this event, you might be wandering how to purchase tickets, right? Well, advanced tickets are on sale right now for the low price of $25 for either day and $45 for both days through Ticketmaster outlets or through the UCLA Central Ticketing office. But you must act fast because time is running out! But, don't be dismayed if you miss purchasing a ticket in advance.
