2003 AFI Film Festival

Sir Ben Kingsley and Jennifer Connelly in "House of Sand in Fog"

AFI celebrates its 17th year as the longest running film festival in LA with over 140 debut screenings from around the globe. As one of North America's most highly anticipated festivals, AFI upholds the highest standards in its selection, presenting an international competition of features, documentaries and shorts, as well as global cinematic showcases, including Asian New Classics, European Film Showcase, Latin Cinema Series and American Directions. Returning this year are also the well-received 'Made in Germany' series, the 'Filmmaker Tribute and Retrospective ' and 'Beyond Conflict: Spotlight on the Middle East.' In past years, films which have premiered at the AFI festival include 'Talk to Her,' 'City of God,' 'Life is Beautiful,' 'O Brother Where Art Tho,' 'Cider House Rules' and 'Amores Perros' to name a few.

This year's festival screenings will be held at ArcLight Hollywood's Cinerama Dome and "black box" auditoriums, creating a community atmosphere where all receptions, cultural events and live entertainment will also be held.
