Taste of the NFL 2016 – The Los Angeles Rams Come Back and Give Back

The return of the Rams to Los Angeles marked a celebratory day for football fans in Southern California, but the organization wanted to do more than just make an impact on Sundays. Amazingly in only two months, the Rams partnered with Taste of the NFL to put together a Taste event to benefit the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.

As if moving an entire organization to Los Angeles was not a big enough task, the Rams also quickly entrenched themselves in the community and one of the first things was to partner with Taste of NFL to bring the event to Los Angeles after having years of success in St. Louis. Unfortunately Los Angeles County is the hunger capital of the United States, but the Los Angeles Food Bank does an amazing job dealing with this issue.

The numbers are staggering in Los Angeles County. One in seven people struggle with hunger and 36% of clients are either children or seniors. The LA Food Bank delivers to more than 320,000 people each month, so in addition to the importance of each dollar donated, they also rely on the 27,000 volunteers who donate their time.

Guests were treated to some of the top dishes from chefs including; Josiah Citrin (Melisse); Tony Esnault (Church & State, Spring); Susan Feniger (Border Grill, Mud Hen Tavern); Neal Fraser (Redbird); Ray Garcia (Broken Spanish); Duff Goldman (Charm City Cakes); Dave Histed (Pavilions); Bruce Kalman (Union); Jessica Largey (Simone, opening 2017); Steve Samson (Sotto); Travis Strickland (Baltaire) and Benjamin Udave (Sysco).

In addition to all of the fabulous chefs and the perfect setting at the historic Globe Theatre at Universal Studios Hollywood, there were a number of Los Angeles Rams current and alumni football players, cheerleaders and event co-chairs Rams General Manager Les Snead and his wife Kara Henderson Snead of the NFL Network were on hand to make sure guests had a unique experience.

“We are excited to partner with the LA Rams to fight hunger in Los Angeles County at the first Taste of the NFL-Los Angeles Rams event,” said Michael Flood, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. “It’s a great opportunity to welcome the Rams back home and showcase LA’s unique culinary talents while raising funds that will support the fight to end hunger.”

Taste of the NFL was founded in 1992 by Wayne Kostroski and the event has taken place in a variety of cities every year with support from some of the top chefs in the world including founding TNFL chef Bobby Flay. As with this night when multiple Ram players attended and signed autographs to help support the event, TNFL always gets support from players in every city that they stop in.

The invite raised money from tickets, dontations, a silent auction as well as a live auction that include such fantastic items as; a private booth for 35 at a Rams game, tickets as well as field passes to a Rams game, a game-used Case Keenum jersey, cleets that were one-of-a-kind and signed by all of the Rams captains and two sets of Universal VIP packages. The money goes even further at the LA Food Bank than at most charities as they amazingly provide four meals for every dollar that is donated.

There are few events that allow you to give back, enjoy world-class chefs and hang out with NFL players, the Taste of the NFL offers you a chance to experience all of those.
