Stars for the Arts

The Broad Stage in Santa Monicawas the perfect venue for the LA Music & Art School students to perform for the annual Stars for the Arts Benefit Concert.  The event starred Argentinean Soprano Fabiana Bravo, performing a program of arias, and zarzela; Tango masters Sandor and Parissa, and concert pianist Dr. Gideon Rubin.  But the piece d’resistance was when the schools Youth Orchestra and Choral Ensemble performed the Carmen Suite by Bizet.  These young musicians, who are students at the LA Music & Art School, are indeed fortunate to be mentored and supported in their academic and personal development by high-level instructors, who nurture and encourage their cultural needs.

We were welcomed to the event by gorgeous Isela Sotelo, Executive Director of the school, who stated, and “We are fully committed to our role as the premier youth arts organization inEast Los Angeles.”

Sylvia Lopez News Anchor was the charming mistress of ceremonies, for the event, and humanitarians Edward and Alicia Garcia Clark received the Gold Star for their many years of support.  They are founders of one of our favorite organizations, the Hispanics for the LA Opera, who are planning the Placido Domingo Awards on February 19th, following the matinee performance of Simon Boccanegra.  This is one event you won’t want to miss!

Kudos to The Walt Disney Company for sponsoring the benefit, and Jane and Lou Castruccio, who have been supporting the Music and Art School for 43 years. It is reassuring to see that classical music is alive & well inLos Angeles, and that the inner-city youths are privileged to have the unselfish dedication and commitment to foster and encourage their talent.
