Iconic photographer, Gilles Bensimon, exhibit opens with a celebration of women supporting Ovarian Cancer Reasearch and Awareness on Sunday November 3, 2013. The exhibit will be available for public viewing in the lobby and in Riviera 31 Lounge; 10/17/13 – January 2014.
The invite only Run For Her Fundraiser will be held on Sunday November 3, 2013 from 5 pm- 9 pm.
An ambassador for French culture and elegance, Sofitel’s presentation of the Gilles Bensimon exhibit (the last stop culminating a national tour in the U.S. following Sofitel New York, Sofitel Washington D.C. Lafayette Square and Sofitel Chicago Water Tower, underscores the hotel’s commitment to women with this event in support of the annual Run for Her® 5k Run and Friendship Walk. The “Elles” art installation is dedicated to women capturing some of the esteemed French fashion photographer’s best work. In an exclusive collection of 25 photos honoring famous women from the arts & entertainment industry the night will unfold in an exclusive viewing of the work, reception, silent auction & raffle, live performances & video, award presentation and survivor stories.
Hosting this event is Karina Smirnoff, TV Personality, Dancer/Choreographer from hit TV show “Dancing With The Stars” and Broadway’s “Burn The Floor,” and “Forever Tango.” Also in attendence will be Kara DioGuardi, Songwriter/singer, Producer, TV personality, & music exec, and Beth Y. Karlan, MD, director of the Women’s Cancer Program at Cedars-Sinai’s Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute.
Proceeds benefit the Women’s Cancer Program at Cedars-Sinai’s Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute, directed by Beth Y. Karlan, MD. To date, thousands of participants have helped increase ovarian cancer awareness around the world through the annual 5k Run and Friendship Walk started in 2005. Run for Her supports a team of physicians and scientists that conduct life-saving research and education programs that increase awareness of ovarian cancer.

Gilles Bensimon began his career with ELLE in 1967. Over the course of his career, he has assisted in the launch of the U.S. edition of ELLE, served as the International Creative Director of the magazine, photographed some of world’s top models and celebrities, and made guest appearances on reality television show, America’s Next Top Model.
