Project Angel Food, the non-profit organization responsible for providing over 13,000 nutritious meals every week to Angelenos in need, hosted a new food-centric fundraiser at Siren Studios in Hollywood.
The event, entitled: DELISH, went well beyond the typical food tasting by engaging attendees in the various “extras” or “How-to’s” that can turn a plain, simple dish into one that is forever memorable. DELISH featured teams of culinary experts and mixologists who guided guests on a foodie’s dream adventure in which attendees were able to partake in their choice of diverse food & beverage experiences as they sampled food and cocktails from all of the exciting participants.
Many of the food stations and interactive experiences featured starring talent from HUNGRY: the New YouTube Food Channel and its growing list of All-Star Programs including “Duff's Food World” starring Duff Goldman, “Beer Cocktails with the Beer Chicks,” “The Casserole Queens,” “Drink Inc.,” and “Rosa & Rico…On A Roll.”
Additional experiences were provided from a growing list of participants, which includes Chambord Flavored Vodka, The Cotton Candy Girls, Dassai Sake, Jackie Sorkin (The Candy Queen), Little Black Dress Vodka, Mionetto Prosecco, Southern Comfort, Takami Sushi & Robata Restaurant, Project Angel Food’s own bakers and more. DELISH is sponsored by City National Bank, Brooks Brothers and AIDS Healthcare Foundation.
“We are all endlessly fascinated by what food is, how it is prepared, and how it makes us feel. Food is more than a meal. With DELISH, we show how a great food dish is more than the sum of its ingredients. It’s about the experience,” says Jacqui Farina, Director of Special Events at Project Angel Food.
Margaret Steele, CEO of Project Angel Food, adds, “At Project Angel Food, we’ve always been more than just a meal delivery. Sometimes the only contact our clients have with the outside world is with our staff or volunteers. We deliver more than just meals. We are a community. DELISH is a new opportunity for us to create community with food. Our selection of experts at DELISH highlighted the various processes that make food so entertaining and captivating to us all.”
DELISH attendees chose from two levels of participation: the Sous-Chef level at $100.00 or the Chef level at $175.00. At the Sous-Chef level, guests were able to enjoy all the delicious food and beverages available throughout the evening; additionally they had the opportunity to partake in three of the unique culinary experiences and receive a grocery tote. The Chef level also allowed for guests to enjoy all of the evening’s delectable edibles and refreshments; guests at the Chef level were able to partake in all of the evening’s culinary experiences. Chef level participants also received a commemorative DELISH designer apron courtesy of Brooks Brothers and a grocery tote.
“Project Angel Food took over three levels of Siren Studios, including the garage/entrance level where we greeted guests with a wine bar and Rosa’s Bella Cucina Food Truck,” said Scott Bussell of PR Shop L.A. “Considering that this was our first year putting this together, we had a great turnout with well over 300 attendees.”
