Since purchasing The LA Lakers in 1979, The Buss family, Jerry Buss, daughter Jeanie and son Jim, have shown a commitment to making the LA Lakers become one of the most charitable sports teams in the country.  The Lakers and the Buss’ outstanding efforts in the support of youth in the community, academia and athletics, have resulted in countless events and fundraisers as well as programs including Lakers Read to Achieve and Lakers Fit for Life, to name a few.  LA Lakers Coach Mike Brown comes to Los Angeles prepared to help the Lakers organization carve a continued path to success, having just been welcomed as the 22nd head coach in Lakers franchise history.  Previously serving as head coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Brown led the team to the 2007 NBA final, becoming the most successful coach in that franchise’s history while compiling the league's best regular-season record in each of his last two seasons.
