One woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every three minutes in the U.S., and one woman will die of breast cancer every 13 minutes.  Yearly mammograms after age 40 are the single most effective tool for detecting breast cancer. Clinical breast exams at least every 3 years between the ages of 20 and 39 are recommended as well.  The 5 year survival rate if detected early before it spreads is now 98 percent (compared to 74 percent in 1982)  America currently has 2.5 million breast cancer survivors, the largest group of cancer survivors in the U.S.  They are a living testament to the power of society and science to save lives.
