On February 9, 2012, MJ Icons, F.R.E.E. and My Travel Bunny teamed up to create a lavish chocolate inspired charity event for two wonderful organizations - Senhoa and Vision of Faith.
Held at Senor Fish on First St, the successful event had a silent auction and numerous vendors
including I Dream of Chocolate - Dove's chocolate treats - hosted by Johnette Kent and Vanessa Rivera- Atchinson; and Shut Up And Sign - hosted by producer Marty Elcan - an amusing and entertaining DVD training package on learning sign language. Miss Elcan, who had worked with Marlee Matlin, realized the need for an updated instruction system. Other vendors including Rodan and Fields, dermatologically tested anti-aging creams and lotions; Fashions Recycled for an Evolving Earth (FREE); Jewelry, sponsored by Senhoa, made by the victims of human trafficking, Sheperd Jewelry, Fascinare, Diversity News, Organic Gold coffee and NAAAP.
The red carpet event, which started at 6:30 pm, was hosted by Ryan Garcia - manager of the
Actors Comedy Studios. Featured entertainment included Sandra De Caso as Amy
Winehouse; DJ Freddy Ruxpin, Lady Gaga impersonator Emilia Lindgren, Singers Giana Nguyen
from Orange County and Jenny Dihn from Illinois, world class comedian Katsy Chappell,
magician/illusionist Wacko, and the wonderful circus dancers The Furies - Wendy Wenrock, Liz Fraley and Onisha Moore. The later performed an amazing combination of breaking and ballet.
Giana received nominations for Best Pop Song and Best Pop Artist at the 2011 Hollywood Music in Media Awards and has performed at notable venues such as the House of Blues in Los Angeles, the Whisky A Go-Go in Hollywood, and at the Honda Center in Anaheim where she sang the U.S. and Canadian national anthems for an internationally televised hockey game, while Jenny was nominated Best Folk/Acoustic Artist at the All Indie Music Awards 2012. Katsy, a former Star Search finalist, has opened for Howie Mandel and Patti LaBelle and performed for the troops, while Wacko performs at the Magic Castle.
There were free drinks and chocolate inspired foods, as well as a 50/50.
Everyone left with a gift bag from My Travel Bunny. My Travel Bunny (www.mytravelbunny.com) teaches young people on how to travel in style but on a budget.
