Rocker To Lend Unprecedented Star Power to Fundraiser Benefiting Local Children Affected By the Reality That “Cancer Changes Everything”

Walk With Sally’s 3rd annual “White Light White Night” fundraiser, concert, auction and cocktail party guarantees a star-studded night. With rooftop city views and an exclusive performance by Gavin Rossdale, the event will be hosted on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 6:00 pm at the South Bay BMW lot and rooftop in Torrance. The event serves to benefit the organization, a South Bay non-profit that provides free-of-charge mentoring support programs and services for children across Los Angeles who are living with or have lost a parent or sibling to cancer.

Co-hosted and sponsored by South Bay BMW, White Night White Light will double as the launch party for BMW’s hottest new 7 Series and Z4 models.  Guests will also be able to sample appetizers and foods from various renowned LA eateries — no reservations necessary—and imbibe wines, beers and spirits all provided by local business for this worthy cause.

In addition to the cocktail party, the event will include:

    * An intimate performance by rocker, recording artist and former Bush front man Gavin Rossdale
    * A stirring video presentation depicting the stories of Walk With Sally’s children
    * A VIP silent and live auction, offering one-of-a-kind products and experiences including tickets to sporting events and lavish vacation packages
    * Keeping with White Light White Night tradition, a half-court basketball shot giving one lucky guest the opportunity to win a BMW Convertible 128i

 Generating $30,000 in 2008, White Light White Night is Walk With Sally’s primary means for facilitating mentor friendships for local children, primarily from single parent households, whose worlds have been turned upside down by the cancer of a parent or sibling.  It is estimated that it costs $1000 to sponsor one child for a year through the Walk With Sally program.  Walk With Sally currently supports 45 friendships and expects to add 15 to 20 new friendships in 2009.

“This year’s annual White Light White Night fundraiser offers more excitement than ever,” says Walk With Sally’s founder and CEO, Nick Arquette. “With great entertainment, food and moments of reflection, the event provides a wonderful opportunity for the community to get personally involved with our mission.”

Every year White Light White Night draws an eclectic mix of celebrities, socialites, philanthropists and music enthusiasts donning white apparel from head to toe in a sign of solidarity and hope for those brave people fighting cancer in the Walk With Sally family.  The “White Light” arises from a significant visualization meditation that Arquette and his mother practiced while she was battling her own cancer.

“The color white is often thought to symbolize healing and inspire hope.  When my mother Sally was fighting her disease, we would sit together and literally envision those parts of her body containing the cancer, veiled in white.  A signature moment of every White Light White Night is when we take a few minutes and encourage event guests to visualize “white light” surrounding their loved ones.  It is the most powerful moment of the evening,” says Arquette.
