Carnivale themed Gala honored two distinguished women philanthropists. 

The Event benefited The Junior League of Los Angeles programs for local women and children.

The Junior League of Los Angeles (JLLA) is pleased to announce the presentation of their Lifetime Community Achievement Award to Caroline Rose Hunt of Dallas, Texas, and the Spirit of Voluntarism to Nancy Banning Call, of Pasadena, California at a lavish event held on March 12, 2004.  The Carnivale themed Gala included dinner and dancing, live and silent auctions.  Participants donned Venetian carnivale style masks. included Dr. Phil McGraw of the Dr. Phil show, who made a presentation and served as the live auction host.  The Master of Ceremonies for the evening's event was actor and comedian Fred Willard (Best in Show, A Mighty Wind).  The Master of Ceremonies was noted actor and comedian Fred Willard (Best in Show, A Mighty Wind).  Honorary Dinner committee members and attendees include NBC News Correspondent Bob Arnot, Rhonda Fleming Carlson & Darol Carlson, Martha Schumacher DeLaurentiis, Phyllis Diller, Larry Hagman, Marla Maples, Ruta Lee & Webb Lowe, former Miss America Mary Ann Mobley, Jim Nabors, and Stark Sands.  Music was provided by Lee Thornburg of The Tonight Show and other members of the Tonight Show Band.

The event held at the Regent Beverly Wilshire had over 400 guests, bringing the year's total of funds raised for the Projects and Programs of the Junior League of Los Angeles to over a quarter of a million dollars.  President Wendi Woods Chandler was quoted "We had a perfect union with two fabulous honorees who are tremendously respected throughout the country and the support of celebrities as well as the Los Angeles community.  On behalf of the women and children at risk we serve, we are so grateful."

The Junior League of Los Angeles (JLLA) has served the Los Angeles community since 1925 with a broad scope of volunteer support currently in the focus areas of health and education for women and children.  JLLA's more than 1,200 members contribute over 40,000 volunteer hours annually in support of a variety of projects, programs and community-outreach initiatives.  These efforts make a positive difference in the lives of thousands of local residents.

Listed as one of the 50 most powerful women and among the 100 most influential in America, Mrs. Hunt has served her community and family, while being the Owner and President of Lady Primrose's Royal Bathing and Skin Luxuries sold internationally in 1,800 store and 34 hotels.  She is also the lady behind and the Honorary Chair of the prestigious Rosewood Hotels & Resorts with 14 properties worldwide.  Author of a novel and two cookbooks, Mrs. Hunt is a trustee of Mary Baldwin College and has served 50 years with the United Way of Dallas, founding and chairing its Legacy Circle and receiving its Alexis de Tocqueville Award.  A Presidential Appointee to the Kennedy Center Board of Trustees, Mrs. Hunt is currently Co-Chair of the Barbara Bush Celebration of Reading and serves on the advisory boards of the Junior League of Dallas, The Center for the Performing Arts, Dallas, and the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, D.C.  Mrs. Hunt has devoted a lifetime to the arts, education and philanthropic endeavors, while being a successful mother and business woman.

Mrs. Call has provided visionary leadership within the world of the arts - performing, visual and decorative.  She serves numerous impressive institutions including the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association, the Board of Overseers of Huntington Library, Art Galleries and Botanical Gardens, Los Angeles Philharmonic and Hollywood Bowl, Las Madrinas Inc. of Childrens Hospital Los Angeles and the American Red Cross.  Mrs. Call also led an initiative to restore and preserve Banning House by founding a volunteer organization, the Friends of Banning Museum.  Through this institution, the history of Los Angeles and its harbor, the evolution of transportation and the entrepreneurial spirit of our founding fathers has been revitalized and taught to over 200,000 youngsters over the last 30 years.
