Even more comforting than a good pair of shoes was the presence of Peggy Maddox. She accepted the Auxiliary's 2005 Ellen Cooperman Angel Award for her efforts that have made her a role model to women everywhere. Peggy' past is one to be considered nothing else, but a pure story of hope. Granted only a 5-10% chance of survival, found her way to the John Wayne Cancer Institute and there became the first human to receive experimental melanoma vaccine.
