I’ve yet to meet someone who doesn’t enjoy laughing. I’m among the more serious individuals, and there’s nothing I enjoy more than laughter so insane that it forces me into bouts of giggling and uncontrollable smiles. Is there a better feeling?
Jamie Masada’s Laugh Factory has worked off that principle for the last thirty years. His legendary club has found, nurtured, and helped hundreds of talents, including Jim Carrey, Damon Wayans and more recently Dane Cook.
But more, Masada’s marquee doesn’t just show the big names. He often uses his prowess for worthy causes. And maybe now more than ever, Masada has found a calling that he can uniquely help with. And he needs your support.
Laughter with Heart
Every holiday season Masada’s Laugh Factory marquee announces a free holiday meal for anyone who needs one. And thousands of men, women and children line-up for their hot meal, soft drink and some much-needed laughs.

Jamie Masada, owner of the Laugh Factory
As Masada recounts last year’s holiday meal, “ One family really hit me this past year. The poor children were so hungry they seemed sick. Watching them, my heart hurt for them and I wanted to help. The father, who had become unemployed, was too proud to take my money. So I gave them extra food to take home and heat up the next day. Then they explained the family lived in their car. No fridge, no microwave, no oven. We need to help these people.”
Uncle Sam’s Help
Suddenly the idea became clear. If the government can bail-out banks and wealthy individuals, why shouldn’t they help ordinary Americans? So in March 2009 Marsada approached Washington, DC with his idea.
He wants to take his comedy show on the road. Laugh Factory Comedy Bail-Out would see Congress taking a small fraction of money and financing this nationwide tour in order to spread cheer and help people relax and enjoy good times.
“We’ll bring the stage, free food and drink and, of course, A-list comics to entertain”, Masada explains. The idea is to travel anywhere that people asked them to perform. Any city in the country.
Help Us Help Them
Masada has to prove people want this even before The Powers That Be will lend their ear. It’s all about a petition. He needs thousands and thousands of signatures and he’s already got a decent head start. But he needs more.
Everyone who enjoys comedy should sign. Everyone in LA who has ever had a great time at the Laugh Factory should sign.
But Masada becomes even more passionate. He begs for your help. “If getting on my knees would bring in the signatures, I’d be ready. People need help and this is a simple way for everyone to give help.”
To sign the petition is extraordinarily simple and takes about 30 seconds. Really. Simply click here and fill out the form.
