The documentary,
"Heroes of Hope" is introduced by l
egendary broadcaster Hugh Downs and airs on public television nationwide. A collaboration between non-profit organization
Friends of the Orphans, and television production company,
Heroes of Hope.
The compelling story focuses on the needs of
children in Haiti, the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Along with children in Haiti,
Friends of the Orphans supports a network of eight other
Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH) (“Our Little Brothers and Sisters”) homes and their outreach programs in Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Peru.
“The stark reality is that millions of children in the developing world desperately need our help,” said
Sharon Saxelby,
President and CEO of Friends of the Orphans. “No child should have to scavenge for food, sleep in garbage dumps, or die from preventable conditions, such as dehydration, yet they do every day.”
Saxelby continues, “The goal of the
Heroes of Hope piece is to show how we can take a desperate, discouraging situation and through our ongoing support, transform it into a truly hopeful one.”
