Howie Dorough and the Backstreet Boys are teaming up with Athletes and Entertainers for Kids "FOR THE LOVE OF CHILDREN 3: A Tribute to Heroes" benefiting the 911 for Kids and Dorough Lupus Foundation. Many of LA's brightest stars will be in attendance for a concert with performances by Backstreet Boys, Blue County, Kellie Coffey, Shiloh, Boyz II Men along with over 60 celebrity friends from film, television, sports and recording artists will be coming together for this history-making concert on September 11th.
The event will be held at the Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA on Saturday September 11, 2004. The concert will commence at 2:30 p.m. and will feature about 3 hours of performances.
Red carpet arrivals will begin at Noon and the concert held in the state-of-the-art Queen Mary Concert Dome (5,000 seat venue), will begin at 2:00pm. The headline concert will begin at 3:00pm and is styled in an award show format with actors, athletes and other recording artists introducing the performers. In between musical performances, the For the Love of Children III comedians will perform.
Since 1986, Athletes and Entertainers for Kids have worked with more than 500 recording artists, actors, comedians and athletes. AEFK recognizes the need to provide young people with proper role models. In 1996, the State of California selected AEFK and one other children's non-profit organization to serve as mentor role model charities for the State as part of a California Mentoring Initiative. AEFK's programs provide neglected students the opportunity to gain new hope and belief that they have options and they can achieve.
