Dr. Frank Ryan Bony Pony Ranch Fundraiser Review – Literally Malibu’s Hottest Spot for a Good Cause

In the remote and secluded canyons of Malibu high near the Santa Monica Mountains, the stage was set and provided a stunning backdrop for an event that has personal meaning for well-renowned plastic surgeon to the stars, Dr. Frank Ryan.  His non-profit organization that he founded, the Bony Pony Ranch Foundation, hosted a fun-filled western round up filled with live music, tasty barbeque, relaxing spa treatments, exotic petting zoos and many more activities for all ages on the infamous Bony Pony Ranch. 

Dr. Ryan’s foundation is an organization that helps underprivileged and at-risk youth flourish and maximize their potential in a positive and nurturing atmosphere.  With a high temperature for the day of 107 degrees, the scorching weather did not hinder the festivities from taking place as volunteer workers and patrons of the ranch provided complementary spray mist, sunblock and covered tents where one could relax and enjoy the festivities.

As one entered the ranch, various areas of interest were stretched out in a bazaar-like style.  Areas of interest range from a general store that sold various pieces of merchandise such as cowboy hats, plush animals, t-shirts and tank tops all embossed with the Bony Pony Ranch logo to an exotic petting zoo with goats, ostriches, a South American iguana, pony rides, a California condor and alpacas. 

These interests are perfect for exploring your inner child.  For the adults who wish to be pampered and relaxed, the Bony Pony Ranch offered the “Camp Beauty” Day Spa featuring sponsors such as Anastasia, Neil George Salon, Fitness Fun and Smashbox Cosmetics.  The day spa offered services such as laser hair removal, a soothing oxygen facial (ideal for opening the pores and cooling the skin while enduring the heat), massages, eyelash enhancement and makeovers.  Each service gives one the feeling of being in an actual resort spa for the day.  What was great about the spa is that each station offered a 15 minute preview of each kind of treatment for each customer as workers donated their time, their energy and their expertise for this worthy cause of awareness.  Another part of this event that attracted the crowd was the vast amount of barbeque served.  From Angus style hamburgers to barbeque chicken to tasty side dishes and refreshing drinks, the  BBQ Express made sure that everyone did not go away hungry or thirsty.

This event would not be complete without a celebrity photo opportunity.  Instead of your usual red carpet, the Bony Pony Ranch rolled out the hay and the cactus and provided cowboy hats and memorabilia for the celebrities to wear. 

Celebrities who came out to support Dr. Ryan’s endeavor include:  Donovan Leitch (Broadway’s HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY ITCH), Lauren McKnight ( UNACCOMPANIED MINORS and the upcoming film FOREVER STRONG), Tichina Arnold ( EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS), Molly Ringwald ( SIXTEEN CANDLES), reality stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag (MTV’s THE HILLS), Kyle and Christopher Massey ( ZOEY 101 and THAT’S SO RAVEN), Lindsay Clubine ( DEAL OR NO DEAL) and designer Lisa Kline just to name few.

On the Bony Pony Ranch’s mainstage, the Deacon Jones Blues Band took to the stage and performed with absolute perfection for the crowd.  Their performance added a dimension of strong guitar riffs and a bluesy-like atmosphere that provided the icing on the cake.  

And if that wasn’t enough excitement for one day, fashion designer Lisa Kline provided a stimulating fashion show with summer appropriate inspired clothing.  With hair done by the Kevin Josephson Salon to cowboy boots provided by Boot Star and choreography provided by James Campbell Productions, the Lisa Kline fashion show provided an unexpected and energetic jolt for the afternoon’s event as models stomped the runway with music by DJ Kane. 

Just like the Camp Beauty Spa, Lisa Kline - with the help of the aforementioned people who assisted in the fashion show - graciously donated their time, energy and hearts into make this event unforgettable.  At the end of the event, guests were provided with Lisa Kline gift bags that included samples such as beauty and daily face cleansing products sponsored by Dr. Frank Ryan, Kinerase, Smashbox Cosmetics, Anastacia and  Bony Pony Ranch lip balm.  For more information on designer Lisa Kline, visit her official website at (http://www.lisakline.com).
