James was unable to host the event as he underwent heart valve replacement surgery, but he is doing very well and the event went on just as planned with James son Jed taking over the duties as host of the event.

James Reynolds is currently recovering and was able to return home on Sunday. James had pulmonary valve stenosis, a disorder that has been present since birth and occurs in about one of every ten children. To find out updates on Jim's recovery, visit: www.jrrecovery.com.

'This means a lot to me and it means a lot to my dad,' Jed Reynolds said. 'It's sad he's not her tonight, but at the same time I know he's very proud and happy that we were able to put it on."

It was only fitting that Jed took over for his father on this night, as the basketball game was started to benefit Jed's basketball team through the years and now Jed is coaching basketball at South Pasadena High School. Jed also led his team to victory on this night as he scored the winning basket in the final minute of the first overtime game in the eighteen year history of the event.

Game action

The fans were treated to an exciting, competitive game and also had the chance to meet some of the members of the cast. Fans also were able to participate in a silent auction and had the chance to win one of several autographed items in a raffle.

This is certainly an event to mark down on your calendar for next year, if you are a Days of Our Lives fan you will not find a better chance to be up close and personal with the cast, while also benefiting two great groups.
This is the third year that the event has paired with the Ronald McDonalds of Pasadena.
