Thanksgiving - Tasty Dining Options to Make This a Real Holiday

Thanksgiving is a holiday that is all about food and family. Let your family enjoy a day together while someone else does all of the cooking. We have put together a list of some of the best options to enjoy you Thanksgiving day somewhere other than your house.

Let's start off in Newport Beach with the award-winning The Resort at Pelican Hill. You will not find a more beautiful location to spend your Thanksgiving day and Pelican Hill has a number of great options for you to choose from.

Andrea Ristorante

Chef Luca creates a special Rustic Tuscan holiday menu available from noon to 10 p.m., accompanied by a classical guitar player. For parties up to 30 guests, Chef Luca dedicates special selections for the Andrea private dining room with a traditional and festive Italian menu.

Pelican Grill & Lounge

Chef Chang presents a delectable all-day California Grill menu available from 11:30 am to 10 p.m. Entertainment includes a pianist, bass player and vocalist. For parties up to 52 guests, Chef Chang creates a special California Grill menu in the Pelican Grill private dining room.

Coliseum Pool & Grill

Chef Mark designs a California Classic breakfast buffet available from 7 to 11:30 a.m. From noon to 9 p.m., a Thanksgiving buffet is served. A limited a la carte dinner menu, including turkey specials, is available from 4 to 9 p.m.

Thanksgiving In-Bungalow Dining

A Thanksgiving prix fixe choice menu served family style is available for guests in the comfort of their spacious Bungalow from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Togethering Villa Thanksgiving Feast

Served family-style in the luxury of your private Villa, a Thanksgiving prix fixe menu is available from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Children’s Gingerbread House Decorating

Pelican Hill’s Pastry Chef highlights a favorite holiday tradition in this culinary class, where children will enjoy lunch and create a masterpiece to take home. Classes are available for children ages 5 and up, with parent supervision required throughout the class for all children ages 10 and younger and will be held on November 26th and 27th.

Let's take a look at some of the other great places that are preparing a Thanksgiving day feast for you.

Palm Terrace at Island Hotel Newport Beach

Chef Bill Bracken will feature a three-course Thanksgiving feast from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., that includes savory appetizers and carved turkey with all the trimmings brought to the table, and Pastry Chef Michael Owens’ irresistible dessert buffet. Menu highlights include: Seared Rare Ahi Tuna with Asian Soba Noodle Salad, Chef Bracken’s signature Macaroni and Cheese, Slow Roasted Tom Turkey with Chestnut-Cranberry Bread Pudding, and Peppered Beef Tenderloin. $78 adults; $39 kids under 12; excludes tax and gratuity.

Palm Terrace is also open for Thanksgiving breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. They will serve a buffet with favorites like Smoked Salmon with traditional garnishes, Chilaquiles Verdes, Crispy Duck Hash, Banana French Toast and a steak-and-egg station.

The Grand Del Mar in San Diego will have Thanksgiving meals served at both Addison and Amaya restaurants.

Addison

Carte Blanche Menu 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. For Addison’s sixth Thanksgiving feast, Chef William Bradley gives thanks by offering a seven-course menu – which will include Baby Sea Scallops, Caramelized Onion Velouté, Butter-baked Salmon, HerbTurkey “Rôti” and Apple Galette – paired impeccably with wines.

Cost is $165 per person, $290 paired with wine; exclusive of tax and gratuity.Addison’s customary four-course menu will also be available ($98 per person).

Amaya

Three-Course Thanksgiving Tasting Menu 11:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Fall bounty abounds in the appetizer, entrée and dessert choices on this tempting menu created by Chef Camron Woods at Amaya. Entrée selections include: Roasted Turkey Breast and Crispy Leg, Seared Sea Bass, and Center Cut Pork Chop. $70 per adult, $95 with wine; $30 per child (ages 6–12); exclusive of tax and gratuity. Amaya guests may also enjoy Family Fun on the Aria Lawn from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

La Quinta Resort & Club in Palm Springs has a number of tasty Thanksgiving Day options available.

Thanksgiving Brunch Buffet: Held in La Quinta’s Fiesta Ballroom.

This celebration prepared by Resort Executive Chef Stephen Strickland and his team offers something for everyone, in an elegant setting for groups large and small. Enjoy a sumptuous selection of soups, salads and raw bar selections; Roasted Tom Turkey and Garlic-studded Bone-in Prime Rib from the carving station; Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes, Seared Halibut and Lamb Chops; plus traditional sides and desserts, including Pumpkin Pie, Sweet Potato-Ginger Crème Brûlée, Granny Smith Apple Tart and an Ice Cream and Sundae Bar.

Served from 1 to 4 pm. Price is $75 per person, includes California sparkling wine with meal ($45 for kids ages 13-18, free from the kids’ menu for ages 12 and under).

Morgan’s in the desert

Chef Jimmy Schmidt’s four-course harvest dinner features a choice of starters like Shaved Granny Smith Apple & Pistachio Salad or Sweet Yellow Corn Soup; entrée selections such as Bliss Maple Cured Turkey Breast with Wild Mushroom & Roasted Sweet Onion Stuffing, and Butternut Squash & Yukon Gold Gratin; and Roasted Pumpkin Tart, Two Apple Crisp or Twisted S’mores of Chocolate are sweet temptations for dessert. Served from 5:30 to 10 pm, in addition to the customary Morgan’s dinner menu. Price is $79 per person, includes a complimentary glass of selected wine with meal; $29 for kids ages 10-18 (free from the kids’ menu for ages 9 and under); plus tax and 18% service charge. 

TWENTY6

Enjoy creatively updated American classics for a Thanksgiving feast that includes: Roasted Acorn Squash Soup, Spinach Salad, and a choice of Sous Vide Organic Turkey with turkey leg confit stuffing, Beef “Buco” with roasted root vegetables, or Tiger Prawn Meunière – all served TV-dinner-style with mashed potatoes, English peas & rainbow carrots, and ending sweetly with Pumpkin Pudding. Served from 5 to 8:30 pm, in addition to the regular dinner menu.

Four-courses, including a glass of wine or draft beer, $49 per person ($19 for kids ages 10-18, free from the kids’ menu for ages 9 and under).

Adobe Grill

A three-course Thanksgiving fiesta with mariachi music offers Posole Rojo; Turkey & Stuffing Roulade with sweet chili sauce, roasted vegetables and chili roasted potatoes; and Butter Crepes with sweet plantain & roasted pecan caramel and tequila whipped cream. This will be served from 5 to 10 pm, in addition to the customary dinner menu.

Price is $49 per person, including a complimentary margarita with the meal; $19 for kids ages 10-18, free from the kids’ menu for ages 9 and under.

 

Buca di Beppo

Nationwide you can find this famous Italian restaurant serving up a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Opening at 11 a.m., make sure you make reservations as Buca is sure to be a popular spot on this day. Buca will be serving family packages that feature; turkey, gravy, sausage stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans and cranberry sauce. They also have put together a to go package that can feed up to twenty people. If you are in the mood for some of the rich Italian food that Buca is well known for, don't worry they will also have their regular menu for you to order off of.

Thanksgiving Burger at GO Burger

If you are looking to enjoy a Thanksgiving feast in the palms of your hands! GO Burger, the sleek gourmet burger joint at Sunset and Vine [6290 Sunset Boulevard], is cooking up a special Thanksgiving Burger ($11) made with freshly ground organic turkey meat and topped with all your favorite holiday dinner sides: Caramelized onion stuffing, sweet potato mash, spiced cranberry sauce and rosemary gravy, making for a harvest festival of sweet and savory flavors all in one decadent sandwich.

The Thanksgiving Burger will be available through the weekend and the Shake of the Week is Pecan Pie [butter pecan ice cream, maple syrup, Myers's Dark Rum, whipped cream and crushed pecans]. GO Burger is not open Thanksgiving day, but make sure to take in this combination sometime during the week.
