Lorimar Winery and Vineyards situated in the picturesque countryside of Temecula, California celebrated their official opening on Friday May 18th with a delightful afternoon encompassing all things wine, food, music and hospitality.
A celebrity studded event, complete with red carpet and ribbon cutting was both a special and intimate affair. As the melodies of a live pianist drifted through the crowd, guests were served an impressive range of Lorimar's wines, accompanied by a selection of canapes, local cheeses, pate, pizza and pasta prepared by resident celebrity chef Kurt Ehrlich. There was a certain joy in the air – a sense of pride in the creation and birth of this fabulous vision.
Lorimar Winery started with the collaboration of brothers-in-law Mark Manfield and Lawrie Lipton. Their goal; to create wines of harmonious balance...liquid music and a place for people to stop, relax and enjoy great wine and food. They bought the land two years ago with ten acres of vines already established, and a number of barrels of wine on site. These entrepreneurs with the help of numerous investors wanted to create something unique, of their own essence, so they decided to remove the old vines to plant new ones, and (despite requests from interested parties) emptied the remaining barrels of wine. The desire to build their own name and blends meant that things were to be done from scratch level.
Starting with tasting rooms in the old town of Temecula, the most recent addition to this winery is the beautifully designed Tuscan inspired villa that has now become the heart of Lorimar and is nestled between the vineyards. With it's high pitched roof, great wooden beams and open plan, it's a deliciously airy and relaxed space to drink, dine and drift away. With both indoor and outdoor seating and a good sized lawn area, it's a perfect location for any sort of celebration. Throughout the year they hold live music weekends, concerts, jazz settings, wine tastings and more. One hundred plus events per year in fact. As part owner Bruce Riesman shared "We wanted to create something to remember. The winery has a focus on music and many of the wines are named after musical notes". Wine and Jazz Magazine recently rated Lorimar's Grenache Rose one of the best ever and said “It's the perfect paring with jazz music”. Lorimar wines also made a stunning impression during the recent Oscar week celebrations in a private Beverley Hills suite, resulting in over two hundred stars and ten nominees tasting from the selection. The feedback was overwhelming love.
22 acres of vines now dominate the Lorimar scene. With sweeping fields, surrounding orange groves and the Santa Rosa and Palomar mountains close by, it truly is a breath taking landscape. Lorimar's contribution to an area fast becoming popular for wine lovers, is a welcoming and wonderful place to escape. With handcrafted wines, five star cuisine, music, gorgeous views and a team of terrific staff, it's an experience that engages all of the senses.
