Fifth Annual Los Angeles Food & Wine Festival Review – A Four Day Food and Wine Extravaganza

The Los Angeles Food & Wine Festival put together another lineup of unparalleled dining events, parties and chefs that were putting their cooking genius on display for all to taste. Los Angeles, Hollywood and Beverly Hills provided the backdrop for some of the finest food events of the year during this four day event.

The Los Angeles Food & Wine Festival gave foodies the chance to get up close and personal with such culinary giants as; Chef Michelle Bernstein with her Boozy Brunch, Chef Alex Guarnaschelli who had a cooking demonstration as well as hosting a lunch at Scarpetta along with Chef Freddy Vargas. Chef Curtis Stone kicked off the festivities on Thursday with a cooking demo then he hosted "Ultimate Bites of L.A." which also featured DJ Mike D.

Goose Island Beer

While beer is not in the title of this fabulous event, it certainly took center stage. Goose Island was showcasing a number of great beers, but the Goose Island Autumn Ale really wowed guets with rich and deep flavor that could compete with any red ale out there. Deep Ellem Brewing from Dallas made an introduction to Los Angeles with a great lineup of beers that was highlighted by the Dallas Blonde that is light with a hint of citrus making it a perfect summer beer. Finally Stella Artois was slicing up their fabulous beer which has become a staple of the Food & Wine Festival.

A perfectly poured Stella

Stella took their participation a little further this year as they hosted "Beer & Bites" on Saturday featuring Belgian-born Master Chef Daniel Joly of Mirabelle Restaurant as well as Chef Grant MacPherson of Scotch Myst. Guests were not only treated to a tasty food and beer pairing dining experience that was highlighted by a pork belly served over a catsup made with Stella Artois and this was paired with Stella Artois. Chef Joly took guests through an interesting historical look at Stella Artois and both chefs delighted guests with their storytelling throughout the events.

While the food and events were all spectacular, this event provided guests a unique chance to taste what seemed to be an endless lineup of wineries. There are few events in the world that offer such a variety of vineyards that offer so many variations and come from so many regions. If you are looking to add to your wine collection, this is the place to come to. Some of the top wines of the weekend came from; Blackbird Vineyards, Garofoli, Melville and Silver Oak, just to name a few.

Getting to sit down and get to experience a cooking demonstration, lunch or any other cooking experience with any of the world-class chefs in attendance was without a doubt a great treat, but for a party there are few experiences like the Grand Avenue events that took place every night. If you want to get a true personal experience with chef after chef, this was the place to be as they were putting their culinary skills to the test, sharing with guests the best they have to offer. Then all the wine and beer under the stars as Mike D of the Beastie Boys and The Roots provided live entertainment, what more could you ask for? How about just getting to hang and converse with one of the most fun crowds at an event ever. There are so many great events in Los Angeles throughout the year, but I would easily put this right at the top of the list for giving you it all in one or more memorable nights.
