Fresa Sour

2 oz. 1800® Reposado

¾ oz. strawberry shrub**

¼ oz. lemon

Directions: Add all ingredients to shaker. Shake and strain in martini coupe. Garnish with lemon peel.

**Strawberry shrub = 1/3 oz. sugar, 1/3 oz. white wine vinegar, 1/3 oz. muddled strawberries

Add ingredients into mixing bowl, mix and let sit for an hour before creating cocktail.

If you love sweet and sour, this one’s for you. This vinegar fruit cocktail is like nothing you have had before. It’s the prefect balance of flavors that will surely get every taste bud in you mouth moving. Fresa Sour, meaning Sour Strawberry, gets its name from the shrub in the cocktail. A shrub is a mixer consisting of a white wine vinegar base, fruit, and sugar. When you allow this mixture to bind together, something amazingly delicious happens. 

Fresa Sour

21st & Park

2 oz. 1800® Silver

1 tsp rose water

2 peels of cucumber

½ oz. pineapple juice

½ oz. lime

¼ oz. agave


Directions: Muddle cucumber in shaker. Add remaining ingredients to shaker. Shake and double strain into Collins glass. Garnish with cucumber roll.


It's beach season, time to trick your mind to think that it's on a beach even if it's not. The coolness from the cucumber and pineapple makes this cocktail almost impossible to just have one and be done. Relax, you've earned it. There are many places a person can conjure up a recipe for a cocktail. On the bus, a train, walking. But this cocktail in particular, was thought up on the cross street of NYC as the name implies. 21st and Park.



Chiapas Palm

2 oz. 1800® Coconut

½ oz. dry vermouth

½ oz. cane sugar

Slice of honeydew

1 tbsp blackberries

½ oz. grapefruit


Directions: Add honeydew and blackberries to shaker first, then add remaining ingredients. Shake and strain into rocks glass. Garnish with melon log and cherry.


Time to impress the guest. This easy, yet shockingly delicious cocktail is great for any picnic or gathering. Easy turn out is the name of the game for this cocktail. Just put everything in one tin, shake and pour. You can't get easier then this. Chiapas, Mexico is known for its highly dense rainforests.  And the region is recognized  for sweet coconuts. That being said, this elixir of deliciousness contains the best flavors of that region.




The Red House

2 oz. 1800® Añejo

¼ oz. lemon

1/2 nectarine puree

½ oz. agave

¾ oz. Italian bitter liqueur


Directions: Add all ingredients to mixing glass. Stir for 10 seconds. Double strain into martini glass and garnish with grapefruit peel.


Any Negroni lover would appreciate this drink. Combining citrus, nectarine and Italian bitter liqueur creates a balanced medley of flavors that would peak the interest of any cocktail lover. Color, Color, Color..... The Red House gets its name from the vibrant red hue, that the Italian bitter liqueur lends to the drink. It's a power red house that is easily one of the most delicious drink you can have.


Beers, Bites and Bands for Dad This Year

Whether you have a rad dad or a dapper dad, he is sure to venture out of his man cave for the Angel City Brewery Father’s DayFood Truck and Music Fest on June 19th. This family-friendly event has something for everyone. Dad and Mom will enjoy the beers, bands, artisan vendors and bites from local food trucks, while the kids drop their phones to play a round of corn hole. 


Alongside their full draft lineup, Angel City will be pouring its limited edition Salted Caramel Gose, a rich and tasty German-style beer with an infusion of caramel. For those not old enough to sip a cold one, tasty food trucks such as Tomski SausageBrewWings, and Surfer Taco await. Grab your phone and SnapChat dad’s dorky dance moves before joining in on the fun rocking out to Blood Hounds and Calvin Winbush. The Father’s Day fun starts at 2:00 pm and continues to 6:00 pm.


“Sure you can go on a fishing trip or a hike, but who doesn’t ultimately want to celebrate Father’s Day with great food, music and beer?” said Melissa Corbin, high priestess of party at Angel City Brewery. “We wanted to throw a party where dads can just relax and have a good time with their families, and that’s exactly what everyone can expect.”


Angel City Brewery brews for the greater LA area and beyond at their Downtown-based brewery in the heart of the Arts District. Shade Hotel’s “Who’s Your Daddy” Father’s Day event will include an impressive BBQ feast and entertainment for guests to enjoy, and one lucky dad will win a TaylorMade golf bag from Golfsmith.

Shade Father's Day Updated.jpgThe spread, prepared by Executive Chef Ashley Oates, will feature Tri Tip Tacos; Carnitas Sliders; Marinated Chicken Sliders; Soyrizo Tacos; BBQ Black Beans with Queso Fresco; Maine Lobster Mac and Cheese; Ancho Pasta Salad; Market Vegetable and Grilled Corn Salad; Watermelon Salad with Champagne Vinaigrette, Feta Cheese and Mint; and Bacon Corn Bread with Maple Whipped Butter. Dessert will include brownies, cookies and cupcakes.

The event will take place on Sunday, June 19 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and includes unlimited BBQ and three beer samples for attendees. Adults are $45 and children 10 and under are $15, excluding tax and gratuity. One winner will receive a TaylorMade golf bag donated by Golfsmith, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit The Richstone Family Center.
