California Pizza Kitchen

CPK will be opening on the second level in a corner location that gives you a beautiful view looking into Los Angeles. The restaurant itself has the well-known CPK design and feel to it and they also have added a large bar area that is perfect for meeting friends in Los Angeles and it is finished off with the open kitchen that allows you to see those flawlessly cooked CPK pizzas being pulled out of the oven.

Brian Sullivan, Senior Vice President of Culinary Innovation

While the menu is spectacular from top-to-bottom, one pizza that has quickly become all of the rage is the Carne Asada pizza. How did he come up with what is one of the truly unique and delicious pizzas that you will find anywhere? Well it all began with a favorite restaurant of his wife.

Carne Asada Pizza

"She had a favorite restaurant in Las Vegas and she loved their carne asada burrito. It was really simple but so good, we ate there for years and I finally thought I’m going to try this combination on a pizza, you have a flour tortilla you use a pizza crust, I can make it work and I used a little California creativity and the twist that we would do and I put it all together on a pizza crust," Brian Sullivan, Senior Vice President of Culinary Innovation at California Pizza Kitchen said.

The appetizer menu always is creative and CPK just introduced the charred shishito peppers that are just packed with flavor as you will find, soy, garlic and red chili. There is a rumor that 1 in 10 peppers are very, very hot, but I did not come across any so this could be an urban myth in the making, but be warned. If you do like a little spice, but not overly hot is the spicy buffalo cauliflower. The name itself might be a little confusing, but one bite in and you will be hooked. This is the closest thing to a buffalo wing you can possibly find without the chicken. It is created with pieces of cauliflower that are dipped in a very light buttermilk batter, deep fried and finished off with a house made siracha buffalo sauce. You can taste the effort it took to get this recipe right and it wasn't easy, Chef Brian said it took three months to perfect it.

CPK has also partnered with Casamigos Tequila to bring you an assortment of handcrafted cocktails made with this flavorful spirit. If you are looking for any excuse to have a margarita there are two versions that will do the trick. Casamigos is featured in the Strawberry Lime as well as the Citrus Adobo versions. With everything from the kitchen to the bar freshness is the key to these drinks as you get fresh fruit and in-house made fresh agave sour and sour & lime. The Citrus Adobo is a very unique take on this classic cocktail as you get a subtle smoky and just hint of heat and then it brings a great citrus flavor with the fresh orange and lime to go with the Cointreau and the Casamigos brings it all together.

Salted Caramel Pudding

Once again Chef Brian ventured away from the pizza as he created a very decadent Wagyu and brisket burger that will make any burger joint jealous. CPK didn't stop their on the grill side of things, they also recently rolled out a fire-grilled ribeye, which is 12 ounces of smooth as butter steak that is topped off with a creamy bleu cheese butter.
