Supatra Resort - A hidden jewel in Hua Hin, Thailand

3 hours Southeast of bustling Bangkok is the quiet beach town of Hua Hin home to the King’s summer palace.   The resort area is growing quickly but still relaxing and not over commercialize…yet!

Supatra's friendly staff

After you check in with the friendly staff you are walked to your room down a stone path surrounded with tropical plants.

Here at the far end of the main beach you'll find Supatra Resort. With only 18 rooms nestled in tropical surroundings, this is a great hideaway from the big hotel chains along the beach. The management recently did a remodeling of the property but instead of going modern they kept the orginal feeling and décor of the Supatra brand.

The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable with views out into the lush garden area’s full of tropical orchids.  There are three seaview rooms and 2 luxury private villa rooms complete with swimming pool.

Once you’ve settled in you can change into something comfortable for a walk on the beach or swim in the pool or warm gulf waters.  There is a small pool bar on the way to the beach with a nice selection of cocktails including a Supatra Special.

If you want to grab a bite at the pool bar, they have recently changed to traditional Thai dishes with a twist to make them unique.  Dinner can be served at the resort up until 6pm or you can walk down the beach a short distance to Supatra’s restaurant with a full menu of delicious Thai cuisines, including seafood brought in fresh right from the gulf in front of you.

Supatra Resort is great for couples, singles or family with it’s variety of activities on the beach.  Wave runners, horseback riding, banana boats, jogging, Thai massage, or just taking a stroll, looking at the variety of  seashells.

What Khao Lat - Monkey Mountain

Also down the beach from the resort is Wat Khao Lad on top of a mountain also known as Monkey Mountain.  Here stands a giant golden Buddha. A hike to the top of the mountain can get you a commanding view back to Hau Hin and it’s expansive white sand beach.

Hua Hin Beach

The rocks on the mountain are sometimes covered with playful monkeys in search of free handouts.   During the day you can see the baby monkeys swiming in the gulf waters next to the mountain.  They like to leap from the rocks and do a long swim, sometimes completely submerged.

So as you can see, much to do around Supatra Resort, or just lounge all day in the sun with your favorite book and a cool drink.  You can find Supatra’s Resort on the internet. Rooms are reasonably priced for such a nice property.
